was a busy day the day that we went on it as a cruize boat was in. Kids loved it. What i didn't like was the adults pushing in ahead of my two children to get a better view. A must to do in Wellington and a wonderful playground after a short walk when reach the top.

Convenient and unusual route to the top of the Botanical Gardens. The small museum which is free to enter is worth some time

The cable car is a must do for the view alone , we only went one way ( the bus from Zelandia will drop you here on the way back to the city) the photos my husband got where great , the ride itself doesn't take long but its a welling ton icon and well worth a ride !

Loved the views from top of the hill and it's a thrill to board these vintage cars - love the interior and the woodwork too. They've kept them remarkably well.

There are so many places in the world where such an attraction would be overpriced and kitsch. Not here. I'm sure in part this is because the cable car is used by commuters. Take it one way, and walk back through the botanic gardens - particularly if you have kids you can take to the fabulous park.

Doing the cable car u to Mt Victoria is almost like doing the peak tram in Hong Kong, they are so similar in many ways. Once up there, you are rewarded with beautiful scenery of the view of Wellington, plus 3 other things:
Cable car museum;
Botanic garden;
Observatory.
This is where most people come for their classic Wellington photo...
