It was a short but nice ride to the top where I could get a nice view of Wellington, and was like the hub to other main attractions e.g. Zealandia, botanical garden, observatory, etc.

Hi, the Cable Car is short and sweet indeed! It's a great way to show off our unique way of living by taking you past the hillside terraced houses of Kelburn and the lookout perched above the city for some fantastic views. As you've mentioned above, there's always plenty of things to do whether you're exploring outer space, the history... More

Loved by young and old, and the new lighting in two of the tunnels gives a party look to the trip. Well worth the trip

Hi GioRash, Wellington on a good day is certainly hard to beat! Luckily we've got an indoor viewing platform so everyone can enjoy the views no matter the weather. The museum at the top of the summit houses the original car and you can even sit on it for photos! More

We're a couple. Nice view at the top but not as good as Mt.Victoria. It's more of a novelty for kids I think. If you're visiting the botanical gardens then go up with a one way ticket and walk down through the gardens and end up by the beehive.

Thank you for visiting the Cable Car. It's easy to understand why it remains so popular today, as it is one of the more fun and accessible ways to reach Kelburn summit for views over the city & harbour Te Whanganui-a-Tara. There's also plenty of to do as you have easy access to many of Wellington's top attractions including the... More

Hi Frans, we are glad to hear you enjoyed your trip. We are situated in a lane on Lambton Quay, next to McDonalds. The short trip up offers such a fun escape from the busy city streets below and takes you up to Kelburn for some fantastic views over the city and entrance to the Botanic Garden. More

Hi there, the Cable Car is certainly unique to our capital! It's amazing to be able to take the trip up Kelburn hill the same way people did over 100 years ago. Plus you can see the original car housed in the museum to truly take a step back in time. More

At $7.50 round trip for an adult, it was worth the ride up and down on the cable car. Provided great views of the city (especially if you do not have a car to get around). It was worth walking into the nearby village with shops and cafes to have a look at inner city living in Wellington. The cable... More

We are glad you enjoyed yourself and went exploring around Kelburn Village too, kudos! It really is a charming suburb and there are plenty of places to shop and eat there. The lights are definitely "cool" , it's a great way to show off NZ's creative side. More

Hi Fifi L, great to hear you and your boys enjoyed your trip! The original cable car is a great way to show the kids how people used to travel up Kelburn over a 100 years ago and the lights through the two tunnels provides a great contrast too. Thank you for visiting. More

Great views and even better if you walk down the hill and visit parliament. Have not been on the cable car since I was a child.
