Days Bay is a short strand of rough sand, safe for littlies but also deep enough for the better swimmers. Bigger kIds (old and young) love jumping off the ferry wharf. Easily accessible from Wellington by ferry or car or bus. Cafes across the road, changing rooms and toilets on the beach. Eastbourne is a quaint seaside village, beach is... More

Great on a summers day take a picnic and sit on the lawn or beach or you can get some food at the cafe which has a good selection and you can buy icecreams . There are ducks there the children can feed. Also you can hire canoes and row boats there . There is plenty of parking . Also... More

Along with Days Bay this is a lovely seaside hamlet that you can get to by ferry from Wellington via Days Bay. Great views back to the city, a perfect day out if the weather is good.

Such a quaint drive around the bays to find a little seaside paradise. Great place to take the little kids, with long walkways for trikes and bikes.

You prob won't want to go sunbathing here but it's still pleasant enough for a walk with the family for a few hours. Nice views back towards wellington.

Avoid sunny days during the weekend as this is a very popular beach resulting in overcrowded sand, water and few car parks. The views looking towards wellington city are wonderful and even better at night looking at the city lights. You can catch a ferry from wellington to days bay. Rona gallery is worth a visit to view local art.

Especially Eastbourne, albeit that the local businesses seem to be in the land of nod. Apart from a hard working fish n chip shop( which could do with a good clean) the rest of the place is certainly languid Having said that the beach is superb ......

was there last weekend ... was told there is a Wahine memorial there (the mast), so made a beeline for that as it was an epic storm which created such sadness in NZ History. Great to see this memorial here and its simply done which shows class. Well done Eastbourne.

Some people prefer a pebbled beach and for those that do you will find a well kept clean beach with lots to do along its promenade complete with bandstand and one of the finest victorian piers in the country. Excellent value from the seafood stall next to the pier on the eastern side, with decent coffee and good service. Eastbourne... More
