In Eastborne. Good environment

You can catch small crabs and sea shells if low tide. A small town but very good environment with cafe, restaurant and BBQ park.

Getting to Days Bay included a ferry ride which was very scenic from the city. There were a lot of people at Days Bay but there is plenty of room to sit outside on the grass. The staff in the cafe were very friendly and the food was good too.

lovely beach, clean facilities, great selection of cafes across the road, easy access. Sea warms up quite well as it is shallow initially, fun jumping off the pier!

Days Bay is an excellent place to be in the summer. East by West operates ferry to/from Wellington City. It is a nice little beach, with café across the road and a ice-cream shop. Lots of people jump off the wharf which is fun to watch, or to have a go!

We drove here from the city and it's about 20 mins - totally worth it with small suburbs hugging the bays one after the other all the way along the road. Good cafe and gallery here and I'd definatley go back again!

I took the ferry from Wellington Harbor to Days Bay. A lovely ferry ride and only $22 round trip. Fun watching the people in canoes and enjoying the water. Went to a cute gift shop just across the road from the landing. I understand there is a lot more shops/restaurants at Eastbourne, which was a 15 walk, but I did... More

More isolated than Oriental Parade, you are able to choose to arrive to the 'other' side by ether boat or car/bus. As we were staying in Lower we choose a car. Unfortunately it was quite windy so was somewhat unpleasant for those who had a swim. A number cafes and two ice parlours with a kayak hire available

Took the ferry over from Wellington, stopped off at Somes island, went kayaking in the bay and had a delicious real fruit ice cream to top it off. Great day!

Days Bay Beach is part of what is known as the bays area (see my review of Eastbourne and Pencarrow Head.) We live around the bays and love it. It is like being on holiday every day of the year. The East West Ferry goes across to Days Bay and there is a very regular bus service from Wellington 83,... More

Days bay is a beautiful spot to drive to wherever you are in Wellington. Short drive from city or a East by West boat trip. Lovely, mostly clean water, and pier to jump off. Nice sheltered parts and a lovely cafe across the road for ice creams, coffee, milkshakes, lunch, or snacks.
