Arrived early to listen to an organ recitatal, so had a chance to look round. An old church, by NZ's standards, so quite interesting carpentry and joinery. Very interesting links to US Marine Corps. The church was better than the recital.

There was a jazz concert when I visited, so I could not look around properly. It looked quite peaceful, and worth a visit.

A lovely historic church, a copy of a Victorian UK church except wooden instead of stone. They welcome visitors except when there's a service. It also hosts occasional concerts. Another must see when in Wellington

Peaceful and calm. A haven if you have had a busy day. Those who built it must have been so proud when they finished. Shame its a tourist attraction more than a church

My Wellington city tour included a stop at this old church. It looked very normal to me from the outside, but my guide said "Don't be deceived. Wait til you get inside" As soon as I stepped in: WOW! The wonderful smell of the timber just hit me and I JUST LOVED IT!!! The cathedral was charming, peaceful, beautiful and... More

I would not have gone out of my way to visit but do not regret doing so. Very traditional and the links with the US were unexpected

Lovely atmospheric wooden church, with beautiful stained glass. It has an interesting history which you can read about & very helpful volunteers to offer a lovely friendly welcome.

Somehow visiting an old church in NZ didn't sound very exciting, but Old St. Paul's is definitely worth a visit. Plain wooden Gothic on the outside, inside is stunningly beautiful with the lovely wood and the sense of decades of meaningful use. Particularly nice as Americans to learn about the close connection with the US Marines in WWII. In the... More

Whether you enjoy your visit to Old St Paul's depends on your point of view. I love the feel of this cathedral. If you like old churches, go. I have taken some amazing photos here too.
