We first entered St Paul's Cathedral, a large, imposing stone structure with little to commend it, and asked about the older version, Old St Paul's Cathedral. It is, in fact, but a five minute walk away, close to several consulates and embassies. The cathedral's external wooden structure is attractive, but inside is stunningly beautiful. The wood is stained dark, and... More

My wife and I love to visit churches and this is certainly a wonderful one to see. Not only does this church have a firmly unique place in history, but it's also amazingly beautiful. The woodwork is fun to look at and the volunteers working there were quite informative. We recommend checking out Old St Paul's.

Old St Pauls is a small timber Gothic masterpiece, Built entirely in timber but echoing all the design features you will see in a stone cathedral in Europe. The building is no longer consecrated and passionate volunteers were keen to show us around and discuss the history and structure of the building. The stained glass windows are beautiful. A good... Though the church itself is not very big, it is really worth visiting as it is completely made of wood. Especially if you are used to gothic buildings built of stone you might find this one really interesting. Very friendly and helpful staff as well.

It is much smaller that I anticipated but makes up for loveliness and charm. Take a few minutes to escape the busy city.

This is not a huge old church, but don't be fooled by its unassuming outside. It has many beautiful architectural features: gorgeous stained glass, wonderful wood shaped well. The docents are welcoming and enjoy telling its history.

Beautiful old church where you can hear recitals often during the day. Don't mistake the new cathedral for the Old St. Paul's they are two different places. This one is well worth a visit for something a little different.

This is a favourite place in Wellington. I like to just sit and reflect ( not easy to do with tour buses admittedly) but the serenity is very soothing and calming. It is full of history and you can buy souvenirs which helps with the upkeep. Worth a look.
