Well worth visiting, especially if combined with the cable car. Knowledgeable and articulate gardeners who enjoy explaning their jobs and the flowers.

The Wellington botanical gardens is a great place to visit for young and old and everyone in between. It's best of course to visit on a fine day. They have car parking available adjacent to the Rose Gardens. You have the choice of taking a picnic lunch with you or alternately having brunch/lunch in the conservatory cafe at the Orchid... More

Can't be beat on a nice sunny day. Make it a round trip by taking the cable car from Lambton Quay up to the top of the gardens and walk down through the gardens and around to the Lady Norwood Rose Gardens. Relax in the lovely cafe beside the hot house and admire the colourful display. During the Spring you... More

Lovely well cared for gardens with lots to see. We visited with friends when showing them around Wellington. Bought a one way ticket on the cable car, went to the excellent playground and strolled downhill back to the city via Tinakori Road visiting Katherine Mansfield birthplace and the National Library of NZ on Molesworth St on the way. An awesome... More

The Wellington Botanic Garden, although possibly challenging because of its topography, is somewhere to visit and enjoy any time of the year. There is always something flowering, views to enjoy, Take the Cable Car (not tram!) up and walk down to the city through the gardens - you will see lots

The garden offers not only beautiful vegetation but from its hill top location you also get a really nice view over Wellington city and harbour. Its great to take the Wellington Cable Car uphill and walk through the gardens back down into town again. A well spent afternoon on a sunny day!

Great walks and views of the city through the gardens. Use the Cable Car to get there. Choose your time of year to get the best out of the flowers and roses.
