I travelled up the hill via the cable car to the top if the gardens, and enjoyed the leisurely walk down towards the city. Lots of beautiful trees and flowers to see and took lots of pictures, enjoyed brunch at the foot of the gardens.

I love the botanic gardens, always good for a stroll, easy to get to from the city centre. Cafe is also good

They say you can't beat Wellington on a good day - and this is the place to see it from when the weather is fine. Enjoy the cable car ride back down the Lambton Quay.

Although Wellington is small, being able to escape to the botanical gardens (twice) was lovely - I took the cable car up and strolled down through the grounds.

From the top I slowly wandered down through the gardens, stopping now and then amazed at the sight. Stood among what must be some of the biggest trees in the world and turned my eyes skyward and was almost overwhelmed by the magnificence. It was as if I was in another world where nobody else had been. Overpowering. Kept wandering... More

Really lovely to walk around - you can barely tell you are in the City, and there is a great view over the city and harbour from the top with some interesting signs.

The Wellingfton Botanic Garden is a magic place. Every corner has its special beauty, paths are well marked. Woderful is the Norwood Rose Garden with glass house and coffe where to rest in the sun and have a lovely piece of cake or a pie. Will visit again soon.

Highly recommended. Take the railway up, and enjoy the beautiful view. Plants and gardens were nice, but it was certainly the view that did it for me. Beautiful for a run or a bike ride too.

Lovely gardens, a bit hilly for a walk but nice if you want to spend an afternoon there as we did. Lots of history.

We took the cable car trip and walk around with friends. Well defined path and beautiful surroundings. Good markings on the plants, so you can learn a lot as well.
