We were lucky with 3 days of brilliant sunnshine when we visited Wellington. The gardens are stunning and so are the views. We took about 3 hours to stroll round and enjoyed every minute of it. The view of the cricket match below was great from the top of the gardens. The garden was so colourful and had a great... More

OK so I'm a sucker for Botanical gardens. This one is a bit interesting to get to since you can ride the Wellington Cable Car - a cheap and fun ride. At the top is the Cable Car Museum and right next to it is the entrance to the Gardens. There's many fantastic plants here, a nice native exhibit, some... More

Peaceful and beautiful, one of the best places to admire New Zealand varied and magical trees and bushes. Wonderfully kept, a must see for every visitor and a great place to enjoy a walk or, even better, a picnic.

The Wellington Botanic Garden provided a wonderful break after a full day of touring the city. We had spend the afternoon in the Te Papa Museum in Wellington and enjoyed learning about the Maori culture. After 4 hours indoors we were ready to get into the fresh air and walk around. The Wellington Botanic Garden was the perfect compliment to... More

Even in May there are still many wonderful exhibits. Water features, views over the city. Be sure to ride the cable car up and take a leisurely stroll back down to enjoy the views.

as a tramping non-specialist, a voyeur or whatever this sizable, well kept historic setting emulates the best cumulatively worldwide. Arborial, meteorological, rododendra, a fine coffe outlet by the rose garden, a way back to the town through a 'cimetero monumentale' in the literal sense, the duck pond, the colonial houses and their redefinition and their fine views constitute the WBG... We were fortunate to have a beautiful day so the views were exceptional. I am a 'wanna be' landscape designer so loved the walk back down wending our way through all the sections of the gardens. The birdsong was glorious and very different for us (from Australia). We stopped by the cafe near the rose garden for a reviving and... More

What amazing gardens to explore on so many levels. There is a delightful surprise round every bend. Excellent signage and very well maintained paths. The Tree House is definitely well-worth a visit. The concept of the Children's Gardens, to be opened in 2016, is fantastic, as are the children's play zones.

The botanical garden is a nice place to visit, especially on sunny days. it has nice walks, a duckpond, lots of trees and flowers, a magnificent view across the city, a star observatory and of course the famous Wellington Cable car. This takes you to the top of the garden every ten minutes for a fare for 4$ per adult.... More

This is a beautiful park with lots of different paths to try out and great views over Wellington. There are some amazing trees to see or you can just sit on a bench in the sun and chill.
