We were fortunate to have a beautiful day so the views were exceptional. I am a 'wanna be' landscape designer so loved the walk back down wending our way through all the sections of the gardens. The birdsong was glorious and very different for us (from Australia). We stopped by the cafe near the rose garden for a reviving and... More

What amazing gardens to explore on so many levels. There is a delightful surprise round every bend. Excellent signage and very well maintained paths. The Tree House is definitely well-worth a visit. The concept of the Children's Gardens, to be opened in 2016, is fantastic, as are the children's play zones.

The botanical garden is a nice place to visit, especially on sunny days. it has nice walks, a duckpond, lots of trees and flowers, a magnificent view across the city, a star observatory and of course the famous Wellington Cable car. This takes you to the top of the garden every ten minutes for a fare for 4$ per adult.... More

This is a beautiful park with lots of different paths to try out and great views over Wellington. There are some amazing trees to see or you can just sit on a bench in the sun and chill.

We went up with the cable car and walked down. It is such a lovely quiet place in the middle of the city. Great!

These gardens are well worth a visit with the tram ride to the top of the hill. The gardens are so well kept and the cafe located within the gardens also has very nice coffee.

Loved the peace and quiet and the differing routes you can take through Gardens. Would recommend you ride the cable car to the top and then walk back down through the gardens. So beautiful and peaceful in the city. Great picnic spot.

We took the cable car up to the botanic garden and loved the amazing views of the city from here. it was very peaceful up here and we enjoyed walking through the gardens. There were not a lot of flowers in bloom, I imagine because it was winter. I think it's worth the trip just for the view.

Being winter there weren't really any flowers, but it was still beautiful and a great way to spend the morning in Wellington.

If you take the cable car up, and you will in Wellington, it's worth walking down to town through these gardens. They are free and are pleasant enough but they are nothing special. There are some interesting and colourful plants in the greenhouses by the rose garden.
