The gardens are a lovely place to wander round and an escape from the city if you want one. It was peaceful and quiet and interesting to see the native species with the names clarified. Well worth a visit and free.

The walk down from the cable car was lovely. Not too strenuous either. The Rose Garden had so many different varieties and you return to the city through the graveyard.

Took the cable car to the top and then walked down to the bottom of the gardens. There are many routes to choose from and the main path down to the city is marked out by coloured tiles dotted along the path. The gardens are lovely with lots of different sections housing different types of plants. Had great weather so... More

Easy access by cheap cable car ride which is fascinating in itself. Start in morning to maximise other facilities at the top. Fitness buffs can start at bottom and come down by cable car!

The Wellington Botanic Garden was exceptional. We spent our time in the Lady Norwood Rose Garden and it was the most beautiful immaculately kept rose garden I have seen anywhere I have been in the world. Each rose has a marker so we took photos of the rose and the marker so we can always remember which roses we saw... More

You could enjoy an hour or a day in this lovely garden. The roses were in full bloom during our visit. The Peter Pan statue was a pleasant surprise.

We visit here when ever in Wellington to reflect in the Lady Norward Rose Gardens and pay our respects to family in the historic cemetery next door. A tranquil spot close to the city center with views over old Wellington.
