This gallery never disappoints...the exhibitions are always thought provoking and interesting....the café is great too. Be warned though time gets eaten up in here - I just got lost in the exhibition!

OK, starting with the positive. The Candice Breitz exhibits using the videos of 16 people singing through the entire Michael Jackson Thriller album was brilliant. So simple as a concept, but great fun. The other video installations of hers were also pretty interesting. The Jono Rotman photo portraits of the Mongrel Mob were excellent, they would have been even better with... More

Cool gallery with particularly inspiring exhibitions on at the moment. Although it was a bit smaller than expected, I had a great time and wish I could have stayed longer! Helpful staff and good lighting really enhance the experience.

I love visiting this gallery in non-peak hours if I can. There is however something i don't quite understand and that is staff glaring at you while you are observing something or other. Worse even, suddenly approaching you to explain what one is looking at or listening to. It doesn't happen often but it is annoying. The stairs used to... More

The location is near the visitor centre and wharves but it could easily be overlooked. Not all of the gallery was open when we visited so an hour was fine to browse the exhibitions and then have a superb coffee in the little eatery inside. I had some good flat whites in Wellington but this was number one. If you... More

A must-see if you are into contemporary art. Two floors, allow at least an hour to see it. The staff were very friendly and informative when I was there. There is also free wifi.

I was well please to come across this brilliant gallery in the heart of the Wellington City Civic Centre. On my quest to find another Hobbit costume in the Wellington CBD, I saw the gallery was open even though it was a public holiday. Admission was free. The pieces of work were by Yvonne Todd's Creamy Psychology collection, which she... More

Wonderful gallery in central Wellington has a fantastic range of New Zealand and International exhibitions of an exceptionally high standard. The staff are friendly and helpful, chatting and critiquing the different exhibitions and generally being great. A great place to spend a few hours.

We came here to see the Moamoa exhibition by Seung Yul Oh. I was pleasantly surprised that it was a free exhibition & this was all we saw as I had my young children and short attention + spans enclosed spaces etc etc. I felt that the attention & service we got throughout our visit was really warm & really...
