We spent half a day at the zoo. Such a great place and different animals to other zoos. We loved watching the sun bears.
Great zoo where the animals are clearly well looked after and cared for. Shows on at different times of day around the zoo which are great for all the family. Tahi the one legged kiwi is a legend!
The zoo is nicely laid out to wander around. The keepers were feeding the baboons while we were there and it was quite a spectacle. It's a nice zoo where the animals have plenty of space and there's lots of vantage points to view them from. The only downside was the food kiosk- it reeked of the deep fryer and... More
Much bigger on the inside than it first appears with a good range of animals, including the elusive kiwi although you have to have good night-vision to see them. The café made good pulled pork sandwiches but rather expensive.
Wellington zoo was a small zoo perched up on the side of the mountain( like most things in wellington). The kids loved the interactive environments and the rescue of the one legged Kiwi was a highlight for the kids , the way it is being look after. Very clean zoo, and we would recommend for someone that has a couple... More

There's a recycling display, a 'Close Neighbours' area now, the work on the sun bear enclosure... More

Tahi the one legged kiwi is there and you can get really close to him but not take a photo. You can see a NZ kea, hear a morepork and see a kiwi. It's best to... More
