Once again, kids loved their day at the zoo, really fun and educational. They were full of stories, facts and encounters with the animals they had. Many thanks.

We enjoyed a beautiful morning outing to this terrific little zoo on our recent visit to Wellington. Some highlights included: the open animal enclosure with free roaming Kangaroos, seeing a tasmanian devil, Tahi - the one legged Kiwi, the sun bear exhibit, the talking cockatoo (say hello), and the biggest highlight was feeding the Red Pandas. The Red Panda Encounter... More

We had a wonderful time here. We took the whole family and has 4 generations and we all had a great time. The great grandparents found the hills a bit hard but there are plenty of places to sit, rest and enjoy the animal. The animal enclosures are well presented. There's plenty of interactive activities for the kids. I recommend... More

A very nice, little zoo. The animals have well maintained areas to live in. You can get up close and personal with the giraffes, kangaroos and chimpanzees. Every animal is easy to see .It was a dull, rainy day but I still enjoyed myself. It wasn't crowded either which was wonderful.

Lovely natural, bright open spaces for the animals and a gentle curved paved pathway to lead you around the grounds. The animals have nice, open, clean spaces and are very well cared for. There is excellent information for each of the animals and the whole zoo is presented in a way that is appealing for kids too. I had an... More

Ok, so I don't like zoos. I always feel sorry from the animals, so despite the fact I had lived in Wellington for 5 years, I had avoided the zoo. Well, I had been to the cafe, but I don't think that counts. I was eventually persuaded to visit with our little one when we had family staying and was... More

Disapointed with our trip to the zoo. Didn't see too many animals, either the cages were empty and waiting for future zoo or they were just plain empty cause alot of places were devoid of animals. The high point of the day was watching the sun bears playing, they are a real hoot.

Wellington Zoo is one of our favourite places to visit as a family. We usually start off with coffee at Mojo while watching the Pygmy Marmosets play. The keepers are always friendly another is lots of opportunity for interaction with the animals - don't miss the giraffe talk where you get the opportunity to hand feed them.

This is a lovely, small zoo. Go in with an expectation that you'll see some native NZ (and Oz) animals and can walk through a beautiful area on the trip. I would plan 1-2 hours to cover the zoo. That said, it's a bit pricey for what they have to offer, but I'm a zoo lover and don't mind supporting... More

Lots to see and do, new enclosures and plenty of animals. Wear good shoes and don't take too much as it is up and down hills frequently.
