The day we visited, it was a little overcast, but we had an amazing time all the same. The zoo is easy to get around, although there are a couple of steep hills to climb. All the animals were a delight to visit, but by far or favourite was the red panda encounter - the most adorable, friendly little guys... More

Really nice zoo with a lot of different animals. A lot of them are local so if you want to see a Kiwi just visit the zoo instead of disturbing them "outside". One round trip takes about 1.5h and costs around 20$ pP (but seems like you can get a year card for 40$). Not that cheap but absolutely worth... More

We went to Wellington Zoo for the Red Panda close encounter. At $95 per person it's not cheap, but is totally worth it for what is a pretty unique experience. The zoo staff were very friendly and informative. We sat down and fed the red pandas grapes and pear chunks by hand. The pandas would jump up onto your lap... More

We went as a large family group when there was a Winter special offer on that made it very affordable. I'd not been to a zoo in many years but really enjoyed it, it was well presented with a variety of animals and talks from the keepers. It was easy to see the animals but you could see that they... My class mates and I went to visit the Wellington zoo. The zoo has a wonderful atmosphere on a sunny day when lots of people are around but probably isn't the best destination on a rainy day, which unfortunately we found ourselves doing. Still, as group we had an awesome time. I thought that the variety of animals was fantastic!... More

The main reason for this visit was to see a live kiwi. Yes, achieved that and then enjoyed the rest of zoo. Very clean, well maintained.

Well worth a visit. Its small but unique and has a great vibe. The animals have good sized enclosures and the staff are friendly and helpful.

Had some free time on a weekend visit to Wellington, so decided to call into Wellington Zoo. I loved walking around and seeing all the animals, and attending several of the talks. All the staff were friendly, and the talks were quite interesting and informative, and a great way to get a good look at the animals. The Australian 'Neighbours'... More
