Take a tour with one of our trained guides to visit key parts of Parliament's buildings and learn about our parliamentary processes, and have an insight in to New Zealand's history and culture. Tours operate seven days a week with the first tour at 10am, last tour 4pm. We recommend you arrive least 15 minutes before the tour departs as tour group sizes are limited and so you have time to check in your belongings. Everyone must leave their bags, coats, phones, cameras and other electronic devices in secure storage at the Visitor Centre in the Beehive. Individuals do not need to book. Groups of 10 or more are required to book their tour in advance. Specialist tours are avaiable on request but must be booked in advance. « less

If you were thinking Palaces of Westminster or the super-modern Canberra Parliament, this is a disappointment.

Over the recent years this has become just a photo opportunity , although tours can be arranged , staff do need retraining , security has gone over the top to become plain rediculase , don't try to get a look in side , they soon chase you of , But Parliament from the outside looks impressive,

The Beehive being very special, we were surprised the architecture of the other buildings was too. The different styles so close to each other gave us a lasting impression. Old St. Paul's is also very beautiful.

This was an interesting tour of the parliament and library buildings. The tour guide was very informative explaining the various areas we visited and the history of the prime ministers through the years. As expected there were many works of art viewed as we toured the buildings. What we really wanted to see and were impressed by were the renovations... More

Make sure you stop by the Parliament Buildings while exploring Wellington. It's worth to see the unique shape and architecture of the Beehive building and also the government building which has a funny unbalanced shape because there's only one part of the body built on the right hand side. This stop was part of the Wellington city tour that I... More

It was good to see inside the building and learn much of how this very democratic country works. Spoiled a little by an slightly over assertive guide who verged on being rude. Pity

The free guided tour is a great way to see around these buildings. I loved the old one, all the rooms and offices, seeing the earthquake proofing measures was extremely interesting. Fascinating tour.

It is always so much better to get knowledge first hand instead of just using the internet. To learn about the political system, this tour offered everything you need to know about New Zealand's politics. There are many leaflets to go in more depth if you wish. The guide was friendly and told a lot of stories around the parliament... More

I've been to Wellington many times and have finally made the time to take a tour of parliament. It was the weekend, so parliament was quiet. I found the tour very informative and it was good to learn a bit more about our government. Our tour guide came across quite knowledgeable and enthusiastic which was great.

This tour is definitely worth doing if you have an hour to spare in Wellington and are at all interested in politics and / or history. Our guide (who was either American or Canadian) was excellent and went out of his way to embrace all of the many nationalities within our group. You don’t actually see the debating chamber on...
