We spent at least 3 hours at Te Papa and could have gone back for more. Very well laid out and full of visually exciting displays. Very informative. Great place.

The most fantastic museum I have ever visited. Brilliant presentation of exhibits in an iconic building. Great flat whites in the café!

Really good museum, you could easily spend the whole day there. The giant squid and sea life exhibition is brilliant as is the moari one. Also excellent because it is free.

Excellent for entertaining children. You can spend the whole day easily. Just make sure you pack your own lunch as the food is expensive.

The museum is very big with A LOT of things to see. To make it even better,it's free. I thought it will be boring, but i was wrong. I enjoyed it a lot. It's worth a visit while you are in wellington.

The Maori sailing vessels, meeting house, and history were interesting and well presented. The earthquake exhibit was of particular interest to us as "graduates" of the 1994 Northridge earthquake in California-- the simulation was realistic but a little tame, and the accompanying stories were compelling. We also loved the outdoor space, with native plants and trees and ponds. All this... More

Te Papa is a uniquely NZ themed museum not typical of traditional overseas museums. The history it reflects spans three different worlds. Come here to experience a simulated earthquake or if you're timing is spot on a real one! Learn about the history of the Maori who migrated here in their legendary canoes and then immerse yourself in the diversity... More
