A visit to Te Papa is an absolute must when you are in Wellington. A huge range of exhibitions, nearly all of it free. Interactive stuff to enthral children of all ages (including the grown-up ones. Several places to eat - at least one with good brownies.

Te Papa tells the visitor many things about New Zealand today and historically. The Maori section is interesting and make sure you see Golden Days. The earthquake house is also a must see.Children love it as very interactive. Perfect activity on a rainy day and best of all it's free!

give yourself at least 5 hours and don't forget to go to golden days (free) for a bit of kiwi history. We go regularly and always find something new. The kids will enjoy the multiple work areas with different themes.
