Zealandia is an effort to preserve the original wildlife and fauna of New Zealand. It's a great area to take some time and just enjoy the birds, mammals and vegetation that is natural to New Zealand. There are numerous trails that will take you throughout the park but be sure to wear comfortable walking shoes and clothing. There is a... More

Nothing much to see or do, just a very expensive walk around a little lake, the botanic gardens are better and free

I visited Zealandia during their $2 promotion. It was a nice relaxing walk in a lush bush. I got to see Tui, Pied Shags, Takahe, Kaka and various other birds. Although I expected to see more wildlife it was a nice peaceful and relaxing afternoon. There is a cafe to buy snacks but the menu is limited and a bit... More

A wildlife sanctuary showcasing New Zealand's birds and Turaturas. Get there early to take advantage of all that Zealandia has to offer. We just snuck in for the final guided tour and are not sure whether our experience would have been a good one if not for Jenn (our tour guide). A gorgeous day and in such a beautiful natural... We went on a night tour with a group of about 12 people. We all enjoyed creeping down the paths with our flashlights chasing after the elusive kiwi birds. We saw lizards, bugs, other birds and more on our walk. We were freezing cold but it was well worth it. This is a great tour for both families and adults.

We loved seeing the juvenile Kakas crowding around for their snacks and sugar water. There was a stroppy one that went for a poor little bellbird (probably more for the sport than real aggression, I think) and another that dribbled his sugar water all down his front (allegedly because the feeder wasn't right, but I think he is just a... Has a relatively large area to cover. But on the day I went, most en-route exhibits were not availble. And due to the windy weather, paths to the gold mining cave were closed. But I had a nice trek alone towards the luchasia walking path.

New Zealand is unlike any other place on the planet. As one learns at Zealandia, it was isolated from all other land masses for millions of years and developed a unique set of plants and animals unlike any other. Visit the excellent exhibit to get a visual introduction to the human and natural history. Don't just walk through as the... More

Zealandia is my favourite place to go in Wellington. The native birdlife is exceptional - I'm always seeing something new each time I visit. It's also pretty protected from the weather and has lots of options for walking / running / sitting and watching the birds.

Zealandia at the very least provides a pleasant walk through native bush. However the variety of bird life and other creatures makes it very interesting. The Tuatara enclosure is great fun as you try and spot this sedentary lizards. Also wait by the bird feeding stations as the refresh the sugar water. The ensuing chaos is highly entertaining
