I have been a few times now and recently did a tour with a guide. While I always enjoy my visits having a guide made a huge difference. Learning about the flora and fauna from the guide made the trip so much more interesting. Especially liked it when the guide scratched at the ground so a friendly robin would come... More

Would be good if you were into birdwatching and walking, unfortunately we didn't realise how big the track is and we were short on time..

I am the second time in Wellington, but I could not miss to see once more Zeelandia. I have seen also one of the rarest birsd in the world, the takahe, which was consideren 50 years extinct.

a fabulous outing for anybody; two of us had already been some years ago and still found it exciting. Our overseas guest just loved it. Try and take the free guided tour: knowledgeable and friendly so heightened the whole experience. Magical sights and sounds throughout. The exhibition material is great too, but it is the wonderful natural environment on the city... More

It's amazing to me that such a place exists not far from the city, not to mention that's the capital city. I'm impressed on how the people make so much effort to build this sanctuary with a goal to return to pre-human condition. A nature lover certainly wouldn't want to miss this. Besides doing idependent trekking, I joined a walk-talk-tour... More

Fantastic experience. Saw lots of rare birds and my nearly 3 year old loves it. The volunteer guide was brilliant and made sure we made the most of the couple of hours we had. Unfortunately we couldn't take the kids on the night walk (for obvious reasons) so didn't get to see a kiwi. Was hoping they may have had... More

This is an amazing place, staffed by very helpful and knowledgeable people. A must visit if you travel to Wellington. My Wife & I were booked on the night tour but missed most of it because of a mix up over the start time move from summer time to winter. A very helpful member of staff who was supposed to... More
