Great walk

Zealandia is a great relaxing fun place to visit, although it's a bit over priced for what it is it still makes for a nice day out.

Stopped going a while ago when the powers that be put the admission price up to $28 NZ pet adult which was sheer madness. Revisited as now a far more acceptable $17 NZ. It's a beautiful spot and the idea of this sanctuary free of predators eg cats, rats etc so that the bird life can flourish is great. Pick... More

Nice to walk along the path and enjoy the fresh air. Then you can see the bird, reptile found in new zealand. Spend few time walking & sit and enjoy the surounding bird song and beatiful view along your jurney. You still can enjoy this sanctuary for next day after you came.

I've been coming to Zealandia for 3 years now, there is always something new to see. The sheer number and variety of native birds is astonishing at times, especially near the feeders. Staff and volunteers clearly work very hard to keep Zealandia on it's 500-year path to restoration. Rata cafe has delicious food and the exhibition in the visitor centre... More

It will probably disappoint you if you're not at all interested in birds, wildlife or nature. But we were happy with the experience even though we only saw a couple different types of birds. It doesn't cost a lot and the money is used for helping keep birds like kiwis around which might help you sleep a little better in... More

Wow what a wonderful vision Jim Lynch had to preserve this part of wellington and make into a native sanctuary. Wonderful tracks hopeful staff and so lucky to see some of NZ's most endangered in the wild. Tuatara takahe Saddlebacks bellbirds kaka heaps of tuis koreru wow. Feeling blessed to be a kiwi. Definitely worth a visit.

Had the opportunity to stop in and checkout this fabulous sanctuary located very close to a capital city. At a reasonable cost we wandered through Zealandia and met some of the local wildlife. Would recommend.

DO NOT GO. There are no animals to see. A few birds and a lot of walking. What a waste. Of the 2 week trip to Australia and New Zealand this was by far the biggest waste of time.

We arrived at opening time and spent three hours at Zealandia. I would recommend heading in early and avoiding large groups - we had plenty of encounters with a variety of native birds, as we walked quietly along the track. Lots of educational materials provided, and keen staff and volunteers happy to share their knowledge of the local flora and... More
