We were impressed with the amazing work that is being done to rehabilitate the natural habitat. Well done.
This is an amazing place, we took 2 hours to go around the main track, as we couldn't get up high (windy). We saw 2 adult Tuatara and 3 babies which I have never seen at the zoo before. If kids were older would definitely go back at night for kiwi experience. very cool exhibition centre as well. Well worth... More
We have been to New Zealand many times but as a keen bird watcher, this trip was focussed on seeing a kiwi for the first time. We were heading off to Stewart Island for the "real" experience but tried Zealandia, perhaps as backup insurance. We'd been to many wildlife experiences in the past few years such as Hanson Bay, Earth... More
I took the 8 minute bus ride from Wellington's CBD to spend the morning at Zealandia. The display about the origins and philosophy of Zealandia as well as the heartbreaking decline of our native wildlife since the arrival of people, took an hour and a half as there was so much information. Whether you are a NZ'er or an overseas visitor, there are few places you can see our native wildlife close up like this. Just over the hill from the CBD, and with a free shuttle bus to get you there, everyone should go to Zealandia at least once. The impressive visitors centre has food and drink, a retail store and... Wonderful to see a sanctuary so close to the CBD. The birds are accustomed to humans so you get to see many up close. Lots of walking so wear comfortable shoes and pack water etc.
Great place to spend a day winter/summer...etc. The tracks are well maintain, you have easy track accessible with stroller and some more challenging one. (For all taste/abilities) The volunteer are fantastic and really helpful. you feel safe and nicely surrender by nature. You see birds and animals you wouldn't see easily anywhere else: Kaka, Tuatara, sometime turtles, tui, fantails, docks,... More
My wife & I thoroughly enjoyed our 4-5 hours at Zealandia. Heaps of birds to photograph & see at their feeding stations along the beautiful tracks. We were lucky enough to see about 5 tuatara out sun bathing. The food at the cafe is really good, along with the service. Not to mention the exhibition which I could have spent... More
great walk and lots of birds on a early Sunday morning. Cafe was good, with a nice shop at the end. Guides provided really good information that made the whole experience even better.
