Karori Sanctuary is one of the things I miss most about living in Wellington. This is a great place for walking tracks or even just finding a place to sit and enjoy the view. Watching the feeding is fun and the guys there know what they're talking about. Learn and experience the native bush and wildlife right in the middle... More

Really great! Some great walks, but you don't need to be a great walker if you want to see the essential (follow the river and see the birds)

Had a friend over from the UK who likes birds and nature so we did a visit here and we had a good time, being a local I don't usually do these things, lizards were cool and even had a Weta threatening us on the dam handrail as we were going to feed it to the Tuatara if we had... More

We came here on a very cold and rainy day but still enjoyed ourselves. It was amazing to see wildlife so close, the kakas in particular were very active and playful. The environment it self to walk through was also lovely, very peaceful. It's great for tourists to get a taste of what New Zealand nature is all about. The... More

Very enjoyable day for the whole family. Reasonable entry fees. We had a sunny dry day so it was great, not really a rainy day activity. Take your time and listen for the birds.

Don't miss this green oasis in the heart of the city. If you have just one day in Wellington, do what I did: start your day with a Cable Car ride from Lambton Quay up to the Botanical Gardens, walk around the Botanical Gardens, then hop on the free shuttle to Zealandia ecosanctuary. Try to take a free tour (check... More

We visited Zealandia in July after a morning of rain not knowing quite what to expect. Personally I prefer big mammal experiences than bird national parks but I was pleasantly surprised by Zealandia. I will point out that it really is just a walk on well maintained trails without the guides. What really makes it a lot better are the... More

We had an annual membership when we lived in Wellington and we visited regularly. Entry prices have recently been reduced to more reasonable levels and I would recommend spending at least half a day here. It is a special place with lots to see if you take your time. If you rush around you won't get the best experience...need to... More

We went on the dusk evening tour after persistent heavy rain and thought it might even be cancelled as evening weather forecast dubious, however, it wasn't and we had a great time. We caught the bus there and back from Wellington centre which was very easy and reasonable price. Guide was friendly and very knowledgable. Sanctuary was beautiful and many... More
