We took the ferry to meet a friend who lives in Eastbourne, near Days Bay. The weather was great, which does help, but it was a lovely way to get a good view of the city of Wellington and also to escape city hustle and bustle. It was very good value and we enjoyed seeing Matiu Somes Island on the... More

You must know what to do regarding getting about on this ferry & buying a ticket because the young lady at the desk will not help you. She looked bored out of her brain & we had to keep asking questions because she only answered one question at a time. She supplied us with no information so we just bought... More

As a kid we did this trip as a family lots of times and always loved it. It feels so good to get out on the water and see how beautiful Wellington looks. As an adult it is still as magic. The trip takes in the best views from the harbour. If its windy its best to sit inside! Sometimes... More

Caught the ferry out to the island for a bush walk. Clean solid ferry. Simple service. Great way to see the harbour for a reasonable price. TIP: if your not up to bush walking take the ferry all the way across and have a coffee and pop back. Great day out.

This trip is absolutely a must-do for all visitors to Wellington, as well as for locals who can enjoy it regularly. Wellington Harbour is one of the largest and deepest in the world. We sailed from Queen's Wharf via Seatoun to Days Bay in bright sunshine, enjoying the beautiful harbour views. A great perspective on the city. We walked from... More

We went on our first ferry crossing, calling in at Seatoun wharf, then on to Days Bay recently. We could have caught the bus up the coast a bit to Eastbourne, but stayed and had lunch and a look around Days Bay. The crossing was so much fun, most people sat in the top open air part of the ferry.... More

The day I wanted to do the harbour ferry the weather was a bit rough in the harbour so the ferries were cancelled but no notices were up on the boards advertising the trips to say that nor in the shop where you bought the tickets from – simply a ‘closed’ sign on the door! However, I struck it lucky... More

Well after 30 years we finally jumped on the ferry for an afternoon return harbour trip. We thoroughly enjoyed every minute and will do it again soon but get off at the island and Days Bay making a whole day of it. Its one of Wellingtons lost attractions not helped by the advice notice to obtain tickets at the shop... More

A much more interesting way to go to work that battling the traffic on the motorway. Travelling by sea can be beautiful.
