Excellent! I'd done this tour once a few years back but the enthusiastic tour guide (Jack) managed to show me a few new places that I didn't see last time round. He's promised that if I ever come back a third time he'll try and find some more haha. I think the other people on the tour can really impact... More

What a great day and an amazing learning experience for this grandmother as my 20 year old grandson (the LOTR fan) and I did the full day tour. Our guide, Laura, made it so interesting and fun. From start to finish, it was like we were family and she was so fun to be with. The tour of Weta Studios... More

I went on this tour in the off season and did the half day. There was 5 people on the tour and unfortunately I was the only LOTR nerdling so the energy wasn't high which is something completely out of the guides control! He did his best to fill in the gaps! The tour in weta workshop was just astounding.... More

The absolute highlight of our stay in Wellington. Not only was the locations fantastic, our guide Jack Machiela was the absolute guru of all things Tolkien! Highly passionate, articulate with a wicked sense of humor, his in-depth knowledge not only made the tour more fun, but we learnt many of the seemingly minute details that we'd not have noticed otherwise.... One of the highlights of my trip to Wellington, I did the full day tour at $190 which I thought was fantastic value for money. I went on my own and made friends on the trip, it was never uncomfortable or awkward at all! I was in a group of 7, plus lovely Laura our guide, the wise Gandalf to... More

Let me start out by saying that I'm a total and utter nerd for all things Middle Earth related, so I totally jumped at the chance to take part in a full day LOTR tour that visited a vast amount of filming locations. I had heard good things about this tour company and they did not disappoint. The whole experience... More

The all-day LoTR tour was fun and good value for $190 (compared to Hobbiton, which is $75 for about an hour) and includes lunch and afternoon tea/coffee. We visited locations where they shot scenes from Rivendell, Minas Tirith/Helm's Deep (the same quarry), the River Anduin, and Gardens of Isengard, and then toured Weta Workshop and the Weta Cave / souvenir... Just arrived back from my half day Wind Farm and Seal Colony tour, which was fantastic. My guide Paul was great fun, friendly and enthusiastic. I was the only person on this tour, which would normally have made me a bit uncomfortable (in terms of making conversation etc) but it wasn't an issue in the slightest as Paul was really... More

This tour was the highlight of our trip to Wellington. Our guide, Jack, was incredibly knowledgeable- about Wellington, LotR and geeky things in general. The tour started on Mt Victoria, looking at various filming locations, then we travelled out to Weta studios, where we got to tour around the workshop, watch a film about Weta's involvement in various projects, and...
