For any Fan of the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit Films, as well as the other fantastic works completed by Weta Workshop, this is a Must!! The shop is a site in itself and there are a number of photo opportunities with things such as Trolls, Gollum and Lurtz. For those who are uncomfortable in crowds, especially in small... More

Arrived outside the door on christmas day, knowing that it will be closed. Since we are nearby, we decided to take pictures with the trolls outside the door. They are well made, having to withstand the weather, they are looking good. Will visit the interior when have the chance

I took the bus up from Wellington city center for $5 one way. Then, it's less than a 5 minute walk to the cave. I'm not a Peter Jackson film groupie, but I did want to see what all the fuss was about. Arriving at 10:25am, it was a complete zoo, couldn't even get in the door. Finally at the... More

It was an interesting behind the scenes visit to the WETA workshop. We were glad we managed to join the tour but the space was small and we didn't get to see that many things. I guess it s limited by space. Otherwise it is def worth a visit for LOTR n Hobbit fans

This is a behind the scenes tour of how they make costumes and all the props for lord of the rings and the hobbit films. I'm not a massive LOTR fan but wow what a great experience, the guides are very knowledgeable. The tour is quite short, about 49 minutes in length but great value for money.

As avid LOTR and Hobbit fans, this was a necessary pilgrimage. We were not disappointed. Of course there are other exhibits and displays of weta work in action. A must visit place because it really did put Wellington on the map.

We arrived at Weta seeing the trolls outside the building and plenty of photos taken. Due to the tours all booked out we were not able to go behind the scenes to see how it all happens, which was disappointing. Nevertheless we were able to see the showroom and talk to a man with a very long grey beard who... More

What a great thing to visit and it is free. Good to see the documentary films on all of the films Weta have worked on. A must to take your overseas and out of Wellington friends to.

We weren't sure whether to bother going to Weta Cave or not but we're so glad that we did and that we went on the workshop tour. It is really interesting and definitely worth the cost. We were considering just going and having a look around without the tour but the tour definitely made the experience. You get to see... More

Not enough words can describe how awesome the Weta Caves are. Just arriving there and seeing trolls on the front garden was enough to make the 12 year old inside me scream! We arrived on a relatively quite day so we only had to wait 20 mins before our tour left which was a perfect amount of time to explore... More
