Very touristy but impressive for a quick 10 minute look-around. Impressive for aussies who have little in the way of serious high-volume waterfalls -Americans used to Niagara may feel less impressed.

The falls were so amazing! We decided to park at the Spa Thermal Park and do the one hour hike to the falls and back. The hike was pretty moderate, lots of shade, and amazing views. I wish there were more picnic spots at the falls, there was really just a bench and a few shady spots to sit in... More

We were really expecting to see real falls and instead we just had a quick view over some rapids, and the place was really packed (summer WE)

We were just passing and saw a sign for Huka Falls so thought we would stop - so glad that we did! This is a very impressive display of the power of nature. Definitely well worth a visit.

Amazing!!! Short fall, but beautiful . . . I'd love to go for kayaking or rafting there. You can spend easily a good number of days around this area...

Well worth the diversion off the main road. Free to enter and walk around. Didn't do the boat trip as the power of it can be appreciated from the bridge. Well worth the trip.

We walked to Huka Falls from the car park at Taupo, which was a very enjoyable river walk leading to the Huka Falls. The walk is undulating, so firm footwear is better, but sandal types would be ok, but you'll get quite a bit of grit on your feet. There is a thermal pool on route which is great for... More

i guess it was low tide, when we were there... nothing very spetial. even if it is beautiful to take a look at! just too many tourists, too many coaches... hundret thousends of pictues are taken there by the people every day... thats unsexy for a natural spectacle like this.
