Awesome day trip

Awesome day trip if you're looking for free/cheap things to do. We saw huka falls, did a thermal springs hike and the bees place. Huka falls is so pretty!

We spent a pleasant few hours walking from the Spa Thermal Park to View Huka Falls and back again for a prolonged soak in the natural warm waters. It is an easy walk along a wide and clearly defined path along the river. It is interesting to note how the nature of the river changes as one approaches the narrow... More

It was raining when we reached the site, it was windy also. So we just walked carefully and have a glimpse of the great view.

These falls are fantastic. Although not a "world beater" in volume (350 cumecs) or height (11 meters) there is a dynamic sense of power as the waters press through the narrow space. Paths from the car park to the viewing bridges are well formed and easy gradient. There are many other attractions in the immediate vicinity, well worth a visit.

Worth going. Free. The force of the water is spectacular. Its also worth going further up the river to the Dam. At specific times they open the gates.

Simply a stunning naturally occurring waterfall. The force of the water is just phenomenal and several great viewing platforms are provided. Also the perfect place to start a walk along one of the many graded tracks. A definite requirement for any visit to Taupo.

We walked along the river to Huka falls and enjoyed the view of the falls. It would be much easier to drive to the falls as you can then park and cross the bridge right at the falls. However, the walk is a great experience. It took us about 45 minutes and there are some quite steep bits.

We stopped here on the drive from one adventure to another. It was just beautiful. Unless you go on the longer hikes up the river, there isn't much to do, but it's worth stopping to look.

Worth the stop! Lovely walks around the area and great photo op. Make sure you check out the dam releasing the water.
