We came hear for the hot pools using a grabone deal. The deal was half price. Best bargain for an evening. The setting is phenomenally beautiful, and the kids are not allowed here, which ensures that you will be fully relaxed. The temperature varies greatly from pool to pool, and you will not leave wishing there was a hotter pool.... More

We visited the pools last time we were in Taupo and couldn't wait to go again. We weren't disappointed, new pools have been added all different temperatures, and the native surounds have grown into a beautiful environment which only added to the magic.Truly healing waters there is nothing else like it in NZ, a national treasure! Highly recommended

Interesting, but not worth the price... The city of Taupo had a lot more cool places to visit and for free...

The Thermal Valley is an absolute must for anyone not used to thermal activity. The day my wife and I went it was overcast and raining lightly. I asked the guide where the brown footpaths went to be informed that they were not footpaths but fault lines. Also wonderful were the translucent pools of water steaming gently as one walked... Driven past the signs for this place many times, and decided to pull in and have a look. Located by a camping ground, and there were animals around which would be good for children, you could buy food for them in the cafe. The cafe itself had a good variety of food, although I can't say what it was like... More

Drive in from the Wairakei Terraces sign and follow the road around to the lookout. Well worth while with photo ops.

Never miss a drive through this valley when you visit Taupo. Weve been heaps of times through the pipes driving through the steam and up the valley to the lookout at the top - dont know why more dont go - its free and fabulous.

We stumbled across this place with a few hours to kill in Taupo. As an animal lover, it was so perfect for me as there were heaps of animals which you could purchase bags of feed for. The thermal walk was a unique experience, and very interesting.
