It is a place to drop by when visiting Huka Falls. Very informative to know more about volcano and try the volcano stimulation of 6.9 magnitude.

If you are a typical looking for the biggest thrills and fast paced action, give this a miss. But if you care to learn something about the place your visiting, stop by for a couple of hours and relax. A lot of static displays but for a small price it was ice to develop a great understanding of the geography... More

This was by far the worst experience I've had in any attraction/activity centre. I don't think it has been updated for at least the last twenty years and its woefully inadequate. If it was free - I'd still feel that it wasn't worth the bother. My 8 year old brother was more excited by the rocks and quartz in the... More

This specialist museum has everything you could want to know about volcanoes in NZ. The interactive exhibits were very good and the continuous movie show was a great place to rest your feet and feed your brain. Their only problem is that the venue is about a quarter the size of what they need. This forces all the exhibits into... More

Great range of hands on activities for the kids - especially the earthquake simulator. The videos about volcanic activity and earthquakes were very informative and even kept our kids interested (10&5). Great plan to gain a better insight into the natural wonders in the Taupo/Rotorua area.

Arriving in Taupo, we found out about this Centre and our 10yr old daughter doing "Natural Disaster's" in year 5 wanted to visit it. As a family of 4, we decided to go and check it out, aren't we glad we did. This place is full of information and both our 7yr and 10yr kids had fun in the earthquake... More

We passed this place on the road and decided to go back a little later. We were glad we did as we found it all very interesting. We learnt all about thermal activity and the line of volcanoes down New Zealand. We enjoyed the earthquake simulator and making the displays move. You need a good hour here.

My partner and i actually loved how bad this was. One of the best features was when you push a button and a whole lot of tiny lights go on. For an idea of how fun this is turn your bedroom light of and on 13 times, congratulations you have experienced an equally thrilling time as the volcanic activity centre

Lots of reading and information. My kids though young, enjoyed the earthquake simulator and the displays. Good to visit on a wet day!
