We popped in during the Easter weekend. The staff at the "honey tasting" are very helpful and knowledgable. Besides honey, many different honey and bee related products are available, including honey based liqueurs. There are also lots of other gifts, toys and hand/face creams available. You can also enjoy a light lunch and/or coffee from the coffee shop. On the... More

They are so many types of honey to be taste tested - my daughter managed them all. Staff are lovely and very helpful. So much to look at and great sample packs as it is just too hard to choose. Definitely on the revisit list next time we are there. There is much more than honey too!

While I, especially love all things honey, we both had a great time as this store. We also took time to watch a free video of the life cycle of a bee, which we really enjoyed. Great products to sample and purchase in the store and well worth working into you schedule if you are anywhere near here. Peter and... More

About ½ hour hike from Huka Falls. Really just a very large shop with large selection of local honey products (but not many beeswax candles). Honey variety is enormous and tastings are interesting for their diversity. They sell some terrific ice cream there, which we ate in large quantities.

We came to learn more about bees and honey, but ended up spending only 10 minutes or so getting educated because we were too distracted by all the lovely things on display. There are free tastings on everything from the honey, to the liquors, and of the course the ice cream. We ended up buying almost everything we tasted, because... More

Worth the visit just to see the live bee hives in the shop. We also tasted a selection of meads and honey types and the staff were friendly but to be honest we found it quite expensive for what it is. Maybe if the products were about 20% cheaper we would have bought some but we felt like we could... More

Really interesting video to watch about the life of a bee. Lots of bees to watch, safely behind glass! Free tasting of honeys etc, lots of gifts at varying prices. A great way to spend so hour or so.

I suppose the fact they had free honey tasting caught my attention when we first arrived. And by the end of the trip to the Honey Hive, we have bought all Rewarewa honey off the shelves, as we were told by the locals the Rewarewa honey is actually better than Manuka honey (and cheaper). We bought at least 6 bottles... More

An interesting place for a quick stop. You can learn about the bees and see a real hive in action. They also have a massive selection of honey produce with an area for tasting the honeys and meads. The honey ice cream is also exelent!

We travelled in both South and North Island during our last visit to NZ. We visited quite a few souvenir shops that carried honey products but none had the selection as well as Huka Honey Hive. In Huka, you would find pure honey in all varieties and strengths, honey liquor and wine ( tasting available ), honey skin care products... More
