Father in law put us onto this place that I didn't know existed. Very exciting to hear the countdown warning then to see the actual release of the water turning a small stream through rocks into a raging torrent. Will recommend to friends, great site to see, and its free..

Check the times when the gates are opened (usually two to three times a day) and position yourself early enough to get the best pics. We had a look at all three points from which you can take photos and would advise you to start with the bridge itself and then go on to the lower outlook. The higher outlook... More

they were very impressed with the turbulence of the falls when the flood gates opened. Our wheel chair friend could not negotiate enough of the track to get the best view, so he stayed on the road bridge overlooking the rapids.

Always worth having a look at the rapids. Aim to go just before they let the water out of the dam. I like to stand on the rapid side of the road to watch how quickly the water level rises. You can take a wee walk and watch from different view point, but easy to just park and dash across... More

Dam open with a timing. Plan your itinerary before heading there and it wont disappoint you. See how the river change when dam open and gush of water flow to the river.

It's lovely and special to watch those waters rush out from the dam. NOT TO BE MISSED. Good family activity and the view was stunning.

Seen it many times, but still interesting to see how much the water level changes when the gates are opened. You need to get there before opening times (10, 12 and 2 in winter) so you can see the normal water level, and then watch it rise rapidly when the gates open. Can see it quite well from the bridge... Check the times and have a look. The amount of water is incredible. Make sure you take a warm jacket and do the walks to the near and far platforms.

This is an awesome spectacle! Grab yourself a prime spot on the bridge and await the warning siren! Take lots of photos of the pretty green and rocky area before the water flows. Then take some more after the event! It is amazing! I thoroughly enjoyed this. Where else will you see 90,000 litres of water per second gushing by... More

Great a family attraction for free. Worth the drive to see this. Make sure you are there before the flood gates open so you can appreciate the volume and force of the water. Great to stretch the legs, recommend the walk to a viewing platform for the best view.
