Excellent tour! Were able to learn about the history of the prawn park and given some tips into how to fish for prawns. Some practical activites meant that you were able to hand feed baby prawns. So I do highly recommend the tour if you have not been to the prawn park before. Athough had only caught 2 large prawns... More

Thank you for taking the time to post a review. We are delighted that you had a great family day out. Luckily we are in the planning stages to try and remove the mosquito fish that are in our ponds. Thank for the review, we really appreciate all feedback. More

We love this place and have now been twice. The prawn fishing is addictive. Its worth going to the tour early (think first is 11am) so you can learn the technique and then have lots of time to fish. The other features at the park are entertaining too and the foot spa over looking the Waikato river is bliss!

Prawn fishing was a blast, great way to spend the afternoon in the sun and alot of fun. Was a bit let down by our tourguide who seemed half asleep during the tour but the information was interesting and we did see a fair bit along the way.

To preface this review this is not the first time visiting the Huka Prawn Park, the first time we really enjoyed it - we caught a decent amount of prawns and had a good time exploring the park and even had lunch in the restaurant (don't bother eating there.) However this visit was a lot less fun, mostly because it... More

If not for the occasional nibbles of excitment this could be looked apon as a quiet activity to do with the family. A good service to cokk what you catch and Yum.

We enjoyed the tour, and got to feed baby prawns and touch a big adult. The fishing, on the other hand, is really hard! We felt a number of tugs, but no matter how slily we hooked our bait, those prawns made away with every single piece! I think there may be some natural selection going on in the prawn... More

Thank you for taking the time to post a review. The Prawns are slippery creatures, just like any fishing some days are good and some days not that great. We are thrilled that you made use of the other park activities and enjoyed them. More

What a fun day out with the family. We spent about 3 hours (could of stayed longer) and caught some whopper prawns. The best thing is you get to keep what you catch. Then you can either cook them yourself or have the restaurant do it for you ... At no extra cost. They even did ours in garlic butter.... More

Spent 5 hours here. Even in the morning rain it was fun as each jetty or pier has covers, great if its sunny too!. Didnt catch anything but my 6yr old loved trying. Worth doing the lesson to learn how to catch them! We took a picnic and had a great day.

Whilst my partner and I traveled to Taupo we thought what a must do! Skipped the guided tour part as we would have been waiting for 45 minutes for the next one but enjoyed our time none the less. Staff upon entry do not seem super enthused by the whole thing, I guess that's what happens when you say the... More

The actual park was interesting & well worth it. However, the prawn fishing was dodgey. far too many small fish in the "prawn" ponds that took the bait before it could get to the bottom. bait supplied was far too small as well and hard to keep on the hook. not as easy to catch as made to believe. large...
