The Huka Prawn farm is excellent! I got hooked by the cartoon prawn, so we decided to visit the farm on our drive to Wellington. The farm is so fun, educational and delicious! The offer at the farm is that you can catch as many prawns as you can and they will cook them free of charge at the restaurant,... More

We spent 2+ hours at the park with 3 lines in the water. Managed to get a few nibbles on the rods but it seemed impossible to get the prawn to hold on to get it out the water! The water was very murkey so you couldn't even see what you were doing. We had a walk around the park... More

It was educational to see and hear about the prawns. Perhaps eat first. Take time out to have a fish as well, find a nice shady spot and take a picnic The kids always have more luck than me with their catch

This is so typically Kiwi it's brilliant. Sit on the bank of a pond with your family and catch some prawns.....what's not to like!! We don't even like prawns particularly, we caught two prawns in about 30mins and loved every minute of it. My mum, wife and daughter carried on with the other parts of the park, which they also... This is my second luncheon at Huka Prawn Park. Both times the food has been fairly average but the staff are attentive and friendly. The dining room is very large which likely plays a role in the type of food offered. Anything other than pawns looked and tasted mass-produced, from the risotto cakes that looked like they'd been scooped through... More

Great idea. Restaurant is a bit expensive, but well worth thr tour through the factory and time spent together trying to nab the little prawns. When you are finished youcan cook up your own catch on site and the kids think this is neat. Enjoyed our time.

We had been looking forward to going to Prawn farm before we even reached NZ and it did not disappoint! With a great tour to start, our guide Greg was informative and very attentive. There's loads of interactive fun for the children (and adults too if you're young at heart!) Then comes the actual fishing... with lots of areas to... More

I have never been anywhere like this. If you have children there were many activities, but we went for the restaurant and had the most delicious pile of steamed prawns in a lovely river setting.

I was a bit sceptical when I saw the price but my partner was sold on the idea so we went and had a great time, We could have easily spent far longer than we did (and we were there for at least 4 hours). Good value for the entry fee. We were slightly under-whelmed by the restaurant though, it... More
