Spent 4 hours and ended up with 3 prawns . Very relaxing day for sure and nice atmosphere. Only downside I noticed was that it was super busy but no one had caught any prawns prompting remarks from people about not having a lot of prawns in the pond . I would recommend the place as far as trying something... More

Came here with my partner (a former employee of Huka Prawn Park) over the weekend. Had lots of fun catching prawns, even beating my so-called "Prawn Star" partner in who can catch the most and the biggest (pond 3 is the place to be!). Ended up needing more bait!!! Went back to the restaurant where we had a refreshing beer... More

Took the two teenage boys. My husband and 15 year old stayed from 9-330pm. Ended up with 16 prawns. I caught two. My son one and my husband 13! The other son caught none. He went back to the motel after a couple of hours. Last time we came here we caught none. It's good, old fashioned fun, not cheap.... More

I've been here many times but that's due to living in NZ and often visiting Taupo and liking garlic prawns! If you're visiting NZ, its nice to go for lunch and take the kids to do a spot of prawn fishing (this I have only done once and that was enough) - its a cute activity to do with smaller... More

Spent 3 and a half hours at the prawn park and didn't see anyone who was there get a prawn and neither did we. The prawns must have had a big breakfast so they weren't hungry for lunch! Well laid out park and the other activities were interesting

Thanks for the review, its such a shame that you didn't catch any. Please be assured that hundreds are prawns are being caught everyday from our public fishing ponds but it can be tricky. More

Trying to catch the prawns is just a rip off! No body caught any prawns while we were there. The food was Ok but we could get the same quality anywhere else.

Spent the day here with a group of family/friends, was a fun day because there was a group of us but don't think it would have been that much fun if it was just my wife and I. In saying that though is a fun pace for kids. Prawns are a little hard to catch but with some patience we... More

Thanks for taking the time to post a review. Prawn fishing can be tricky (just like any fishing) but we are very pleased that everyone caught at least one prawn each. More

...but the family was keen. Ended up having a great time, everyone caught at least one prawn and the kids were kept engaged for hours (so provided really good value). Our 5 year old daughter caught the most, patience is definitely the key! Take a picnic and look for some shade.
