I took my daughter as a treat while we were in Rotorua. It was not a nice day (windy and bit wet) so maybe our experience would have been nicer on a great day. It was school holidays and seemed busy. We didnt catch a prawn, neither did anyone else we saw. The ponds were murky, so you couldnt even... More

Thank you for taking the time to post a review. It is a shame that the weather was not great on the day you visited. We do have many people everyday catch Prawns and enjoy the other activities on offer in our park. It sounds like you didn't go on one of our tours of the Prawn Nursery and Hatchery... More

Loved eating the prawns but otherwise very boring. There were people there trying to catch prawns but they had none. Fried prawns were great though

Went there with my 2 kids (12 & 10 yrs old). Enjoyed the short tour and went straight to prawn fishing. As we love fishing so we spent a few good hours at the prawn ponds. I love the idea that you can cook those prawns that you caught on the day on site. However, it's quite tricky to catch... More

We always go here - every visit for lunch as the Prawn Chowder is yummy and there is a playroom for the children and a sandpit outside.

The kids really enjoyed the fishing experience and the tour was very interesting but six of use only caught five tiny prawns between us in four hours despite the hype that you will catch heaps. This is a unique experience but perhaps go the trout centre in Turangi instead and buy a couple of kilos of prawns for dinner. You... More

Thank you for taking the time to post a review. We are glad you enjoyed your time at Huka Prawn Park. We don't promote that you will catch lots of Prawns but we do try and make the chances of catching Prawns as high as possible. Each pond has at least 20000 prawns in it and we do try and... More

When I heard the name I thought we were just going to see prawns in a tank..boy I was wrong!! this is a great way to spend a chilled-lax day. The part where your given your own bamboo rod to catch prawn was definitely the highlight👍 definitely a place to take the whole family.

We only ate there but the cafe was excellent, the service from the young girls waiting the tables was especially good. Lovely touches with the prawn door handles etc. Food very good and delivered quickly in spite of it being quite crowded. Fabulous view of the jet boat passing.

On our second trip to Taupo we couldn't resist the intrigue of what Huka Prawn Park would be about. It was actually better than we expected but unfortunately we didn't turn up early enough to to really enjoy it as much as we could. The main draw seems to be the prawn fishing, and on arrival you are given your... More

Hi and thanks for the review. It is a shame that you didn't go on one of Prawn Nursery and Hatchery tours. They are included in the entry price and give you an insight into how we grow the prawns, the opportunity to hand feed the baby prawns and a fishing demonstration/lesson. We have lots of interactive water features in... More
