We visited during April School Holidays with children (aged 8 & 9 years) and grandparents. We had been several years ago and felt the first visit was better, perhaps because we didn't know what to expect. On this visit our tour guide was friendly and enthusiastic. We spent several hours gripping our bamboo rods and managed to catch 4 prawns... More

We stopped in here and did the tour and then the prawn fishing. My kids loved the fishing. We stayed for a couple of hours but could have stayed much longer if we had more time.

For a restaurant with a freaking prawn farm just a stone's throw away one would expect a lot for the signature dish of the day - prawns. The $98.50 (!!!) platter consisting of one kilogram of prawns seemed horribly overpriced but for what we assumed would be a platter of fresh NZ prawns we thought we would give it a... More

It's a great way to spend a day. Prawn fishing is harder than it looks but the park had some great activities dotted around the place...this is a great warm up for the kids. It's great that you can pack a picnic lunch and keep family fed while they tackle the elusive prawns. We caught 4 prawns but they will... More

Not knowing what to expect, my wife and I accompanied our son and his family to do prawn fishing over the Easter Weekend. We found the prawn tour informative, and it was fun feeding the prawns and feeling a multitude of prawns crawling on your hands as they jockey to get some food. I just found the lady that took... Huka prawn farm restaurant has been our favourite for more than 5-6years but over last year our two trips to the restaurant has been horrible at best. Prawns have lost its flavour and fragrance. It's like they have been frozen for ages and boiled till they loose all their taste. The textures were rubbery and bland; the curry and the... More

It is really fun to fish prawn, actually to feed prawn. We only caught 3 prawns by spending more then 3 hours there (myself only 1, very shameful). But as I said it was fun to stay with family especially with kids.

Kids loved it.... I loved catching a 25cm prawn. Lots too do. Recommend taking a spare change of clothes for small children, they tend to swim rather than fish.

We went to the prawn farm with the idea of having lunch but decided to have a go at the prawn fishing. The girls had a great time probably because we were the only ones to catch anything. The boys were a bitter bored. They are definitely not easy to catch but it was fun trying. The only thing that... More
