This was a surprise and well worth the drive if you are at all into gardens and if you timed it when things were in bloom it would be amazing.

This free park is absolutely heaven on earth. I go back as often as I can. It's a bit off the beaten path or I would be there every day.

This is a lovely garden owned and managed by the Taranaki Regional Council and free to visit. It has the international rhododendron collection but even out of the rhodie season it is a lovely place to walk. Free maps were provided at the entrance to the garden offering a choice of three walks. We chose the medium length walk -The... More

Well worth the drive to this lovely garden that has marked walks of different lengths. We were just at end of Rhododendron flowering but there was still plenty of colour. The longer 'Giants walk was interesting. We had a delicious light lunch in the cafe overlooking the gardens.

Spend time here, wandering all the myriad pathways, surrounded by lovely colored flowers. Take the bush paths and just relax while secluded from the outside world. We loved it and would definitely come back.

This is a lovely park on the slopes of Mt Taranaki. It is a little way out of town but the drive is part of the experience. The park is known for its Rhododendrons and there are suggested routes to take for the different times of year. The park was a pass of colour and it was a special experience... More

What a wonderful park we were there in the rain which did not matter. Fountain Cafe has fabulous food too. The guides were so knowledgeable too.

This is a beautiful place with both plantings of rhododendrons (and plenty else) as well as native bush, There is a choice of walks to take but if you can spare the time take the longest you can fit in as every path has something well worth seeing. A must for garden lovers.
