My wife and I enjoyed a fantastic evening at Mitai Maori Village! We were picked up for free from our local guesthouse (our guesthouse owners had also recommended Mitai as the best of all the Maori village shows) and were taken to the village. The MC, John, was funny, friendly and knowledgable and did a great job of putting everyone... more

Mitai was amazing. The operation is run by the extended family, so everyone from those driving the (free transfer) shuttle buses to paddling the waka (canoe) is part of the whanau (family). The MC took the time to find out where everyone was from - not bad, considering there were 17 different nationalities present, and he was able to say... more

Despite our initial skepticism of this being a tourist trap and potentially being very cheesy it was actually very good indeed. the place certainly isn't full of the bingo club, and the people that run it do it very well indeed, injecting humour and humbleness in their presentation. Everyone is made to feel welcome. It's also interesting and the food... more

It was undeniably one of the most unique cultural performances that I've ever seen. I even wrote a review about it in my personal blog which is linked to the Maori Facebook page. Do view if interested. Cheers all. http://mizzsharon.blogspot.com/2009/10/my-mitai-maori-fascination.html more

We loved the show but I wasn't too impressed with the rest of the evening (the cheesy introduction, looking at the hangi). The food was ok, but let's face it, you're there to see the show and the rest is just "extra." We sat in the front row during the show and would recommend being nice and close. more

There is already plenty on the web about this place - simple enough to say that we enjoyed ourselves, found the night to be good value for money, and very entertaining. We liked how the hosts, casts and crew didn't take themselves too seriously and genuinely tried to get a smile out of everyone and ensure that everyone was enjoying... more

Mitai was a wonderful evening and I was able to learn about the Maori culture. The main host was really funny and we laughed a lot. The haka war dance was amazing too. I definitely recommend this attraction to all others. more

We did the Mitai Maori Village Cultural Experience with Nature Walk. The beginning was cute where the MC had everyone say where they were from so that "all the tribes" were represented by our elected cheif. We were shown where our Hangi meal was prepared in ground and reminded that food would be served later. This was reminded to us... more

Mitai would have earned an EASY 5 for me if they hadn't done one thing, which I'll get to later. The MC was great, funny and educational. The cultural show was very interesting. Considering they put this show on like 300+ times a year you could excuse them for slacking, but they don't at all. They seem to love what... more
