Te Puia spans 70 hectares within the historic Te Whakarewarewa Valley, on the edge of town. We are home to the world famous Pohutu geyser, to mud pools, hot springs, to silica formations to the Kiwi bird and the national schools of wood carving, weaving, stone and bone carving. We have shared these treasures with manuhiri (visitors) for 170 years and proudly continue that legacy today.

Loved my visit! The tour was very informative and the architecture and history was very cool. Also, the volcanic mud and geysers were very beautiful!

Throughout our travels we've been to many dinner shows and presentations of local customs and performances. I usually find the presentations joyless and the food pretty bad. This 45 minute show of Maori song and dance was totally engaging ... Even the parts involving audience members. The buffet was abundant, varied, and fresh and service was very attentive. It was... We took the advice of our campsite receptionist on which Maori experience to see and as we have young children she recommended Te Puia We were unfortunately 5 mins late to see the cultural show but enjoyed showing the kids the geysers and mud pools. We walked ALL around the park and it took 2 hours with little people. A... More

saw a Kiwi, saw a geyser erupting, mud pools, had a great guided tour which was no extra charge. This was a good option to see quite a few different things at one place, I would recommend, also you get a discount if you have a NZ licence!
