Travelling around lake Rotorua , especially in summer can take all day; from lakeside in the city area near Ohinemutu to the far side near the Hamurana springs- a beautiful outlook The peace and quiet, the tranquil view from Hamurana is idyllic, the lake some much more clear water in the last 5 years ; less weed less murky water... Spent time watching the swans in it, and taking evening walks along the reserve in Ngongataha. A lovely recreational resource.

This place is so expensive and it is tired and rundown. The only redeeming feature is the singing show which demonstrates poi, stick dances, and a haka. If you could find another place to see this, then I would skip this place altogether.

we had a boat ride out on to the lake, it is not very deep and you can smell the sulphur. the dock area was quite good as there was a rather large market going on, so lots to see and buy there. Lots of birds around the dock otherwise it is pretty sleepy.

Lots to see and do here. Especially around the Museum and Sea Plane areas. Lovely garden surrounding the lake front and not too commercialised.

There's a lovely Maori tale about the island in the middle of the lake, but other than that - it's a lake. The edges of the lake near the town leave a lot to be desired...AND it's right next to the sulpher emissions. There are hundreds of other lakes in New Zealand, pass on this one or take a photo...see... More

This is a beautiful place however, there is no where to eat on the lake front which would have been even better. Stunning views from the lake side though.

We had a short stroll along the lakeshore. The water was not clear at all with lots of rubbish on the shore.
