The lake is beautiful . The para sailing was thrilling and the couple and staff running this activity were very friendly and very competent. However the Lakeland Queen experience was disappointing as far as the food was concerned. They ran out of the best entrees in 15 minutes and had no refills on hand!! The ride and views were lovely... My family and I spent the day walking along the lakefront. Thermal areas are well signposted and informative. We walked around to government gardens and back to enjoy volcanic playground where the kids had a great time. Great way to spend an easy afternoon.

Take a stroll along the lake over the boardwalks , around the bends and explore the many and changing faces of this lake . Bird life in abundance and the colours keep changing with the movement of the sulfer. It is very pretty.

A great place to take a lunch time walk. You can start here and make your way around sulphur point to the government gardens. A nice sized play area for the littlies and if you're lucky the pony rides.

The walkway along the lake is well setup and there is a nice playground by the lake in town with beautiful views and an ample parking space.

Rotorua is situated at the southern end of the Lake (formed from the volcanic caldera filled with water). Steam emerging at various points just adds to the spectacle and the magic of the place. Sit at one of the cafe outlets and just soak in the atmosphere and the beauty of the location.

There are a lot of black swans inside the lake, what a relaxing afternoon. If you drive a bit further, you will find a large flock of seabirds along the coast.

Nice setting but it was a cold and breezy day. It would be a delight come summer and a Ferry Trip is on the Cards next time

Lots of hungry looking swans, but despite the glint in their eye, they did not try to eat our biscuits! The children enjoyed the playground. Beautiful setting.
