We went to Rotorua and decided to check out this place. You can get a discount if you are YHA member. It was a bit chaotic as everyone need to park their car in front of the centre, get a ticket then drive 2-3 mins to the Lady Knox geyser. The Lady Knox geyser was induced geyser, meaning they put... The Geyser was good the guide was informative and you were able to image the convicts and what they did. Walking around the mud ponds and the sulphur springs are fascinating. The colours of the lakes and the rocks are great. It is designed for all levels of walking fitness. Recommend people to go and have a look.

We picked up Australian friends from their cruise ship at Tauranga and brought them over to Waiotapu in time to see the Lady Knox geyser erupt. A very informative and entertaining talk was given prior. We then walked around the rest of the park. The colours of some of the pools were stunning. The walkways are well sign posted and... More

Every time we have friends or family visit us in Rotorua, this is the first place we take them! There is such a great variation of volcanic activity here and every time I go back, I am still amazed by the scenery. So many different colours and forms of sulphur to look at and of course there is the Lady... More

This is what Rotorua - indeed New Zealand is all about, we are, after all sitting on a massive geothermal fault and the whole country is balanced on molten rock, heaving land and steaming water! - this is 'IT' in the raw, you have to see it, to wonder at it, and appreciate it's beauty.

We stopped here en route from Napier to Rotorua, so arrived in the afternoon. It was worth a couple hours' exploration, and the guide map you receive with your ticket is very good, providing further explanations of what you're seeing. The shortest walk hits the major attractions, including the champagne pool (stunning), but I recommend seeing the whole thing -... More

You can walk, stop and take pictures at your own pace. Spectacular and colourful. See the mud pools, the champagne pool, the artist's palette, the steam vents, the mineral terraces...

We had a fantastic time getting to see all of the different geothermal features in this park, especially the Champagne Pool. There is a lot to see and luckily you don't have to walk too far to see it all. Beautiful colors, well kept paths, great gift shop. This being said, we were expecting the park to be a bit... More
