This was our first taste of the Thermal area and recommended by the advisor in the Rotorua i-site. Although we usually avoid tourist places, this was excellent. The close examination of the volcanic features was really fascinating. We were a little disappointed to discover that the much-vaunted geyser was actually set off on time by washing detergent but it was... More

Liked watching the Lady Knoxgeyser errupt which goes off at 10.15 am every day when they add soap powder to it. The colour of some of the pools were fabulous and there was an interesting walk through the park

Nice for walking around, great selection in the gift shop, Lady Knox geyser interesting (note: daily eruption is "helped" by addition of soap)

This place gives a great view of the geysers, providing clear walking tracks and information on each geyser. It is a fairly long walk, but worth the view of the pretty blue lake at the end. Mildly expensive, but all the thermal parks are similarly priced, and it's one of those things that you would only do once!

Definitely recommend visiting Wai-O-Tapu! The complex includes the Wai-o-Tapu park itself, plus additional hot mud pools and the Lady Knox Geyser which are outside the main area. The geyser was excellent, it is set off at 10:15 every day so try and get there early for that. The park was beautiful, we did the longest walk to make sure we'd... More

What can I say? We loved it. Seeing the geyser go off on time was brilliant. The chat by the guide first was excellent and the thermal walk afterwards fascinating.

Great place to see the majesty of the volcanic region. The park offers a truly diverse landscape with steam, boiling water and nearby mud pools, the geyser and multi coloured pools. You almost feel like you are in outer space. Well worth the visit.

This place is a must to visit. Only 20 mins out from Rotarua and easy to find. We went at 9am and did the first walk in about 30 mins and then headed back to our car and drove a short distance to watch the geyser erupt. This was fascinating. We then headed back and completed the other two walks... More
