Joined the Elite Tour minibus with Trent Neilson and experienced the sights and smells of the thermal bubblings in many places. Stopped to await the geyser, called Lady Constance Knox, spurt up to 30 feet having been provoked by chemicals - impressive. Walked around other pools of bubbling sulphur before being taken on to Waimangu volcanic valley. Unfortunately the walk... More

A great full day visit which offers you a brilliant view of something very rare and special. While we visited when the weather was not at its best so the colours of the pools were not very vivid as they are in summer, it was nevertheless a great day.

Wai-o-Tapu was one of the our favorite stops during our trip to New Zealand. The different geothermal pools are absolutely stunning! The colors are simply amazing- neon yellow, aqua blue, rust orange- and the variety of different natural features is quite impressive. The paths through the park are easily navigable and each area is clearly marked for cross-reference on the... More

The actual park (that you pay to go into) is beautiful, nice paths to follow on your self guided tour. We went fairly early in the day, with pouring rain. The staff were kind in letting us know what areas might be a bit flooded out, which paths to be cautious on and other helpful information. If you can, I... More

This had some amazing sights, especially the Lady Knox Gyser and the Mud Pools. Kids got a bit tired of walking, and things fairly spread out.

We were told this was the most beautiful thermal park in Rotorua and we could see why. A magical array of colours, the opportunity to walk close to the thermal spa areas and bubbling mud baths and the chance to see a natural volcanic explosion (albeit helped along by park guides). This park is a must see if you're passing... More

With a very reasonable price, gorgeous nature to see and able to spend a decent amount of time here this was my favourite volcanic area. The mud pools were bubbling and the pools all different colours. This would be a great attraction for all except wheelchair bound. The staff were more than friendly and as we were unable to see... Make sure you get there early so you can park your car and get a good spot to see the 10:15am Lady Knox Geyser eruption. You need to check into the visitor centre first to pay for your pass - there are rangers about who will guide you where to go. After you see the Lady Knox eruption, which is... More

I only stayed in Rotorua for a couple of days, but this was top of my list of things to do. I was picked up from the hostel as part of my tour and this included stopping off to see an active geyser before getting to the Wai-o-tapu. This place is amazing, lots of different types of thermal activity going... More
