A lot of geysers and caves and lakes. You'll see a lot of colors here (orange for metals, yellow for sulfur, green for arsenic if I remember well)

Wonderland indeed. We visited on a sunny winter's day during school holidays. We purchased tickets (NZ $110 for 2 adults + 4 children) then drove back to Lady Knox Geyser, 2 minutes away. A brief talk was given at 10:15am, then we witnessed the eruption with a rainbow in the background. Just beautiful. Plenty of time for photos as it... More

We enjoyed our visit to Wai-O-Tapu, which offers a full complement of geothermal attractions: bubbling mud pools, gurgling craters, a couple of wacky-colored lakes, and an on-demand geyser that is made to erupt every morning at 10:15. If the Lady Astor geyser is somewhat less impressive than those in Iceland or Yellowstone, the park makes up for it with a... More

This has to be one of the most interesting places on earth! Beautiful scenery! The hike isn't too hard and the printed guide is very helpful. Just be aware of the sulfur smell.

Wai-O-Tapu blew my mind! With all the different geothermal activity going on you get to experience something above the normal - excellent views and colorful hot pools such as the red/orange Champagne Pool and the green Devil's Pool. When you enter the area you get a really informative map that makes it easy for you to learn about all of... More

Loved our morning here. Had 2 9yo boys and we did all of tracks which took a couple of hours. The toddler just did the red track. The orange and yellow tracks would be tiring with toddlers as there are stairs so not suitable for buggies. It is well worth doing the whole park as the better sights are further... More

Lucky, because me an my friends found the Lady Knox geyser shooting up to 15metres high nearing the end of the geyser time. The Wai-O-Tapu attractions were amazing, like the famous Champagne pool. It was a little foggy when we came, but that's fine as we were still able to see it.

Although crowded with tourists, this is still a great place to visit. As another reviewer suggested, the crowds would likely be smaller early in the morning. We started by watching the Lady Know geyser at 10:15. The guide explained the history of the area and how the geyser was discovered. It might sound cheesy, but it was interesting. After watching... We got there very early so that we could see the park before we saw the geyser. We were a little rushed because of that, so we didn't see the whole park, but what we did see was great. The colours were the most vivid of our entire trip. There was one point when we were so engulfed in steam... More

visited on a wet miserable day but the experience was still worthwhile. The geyser is an experience not to be missed. Good value
