We thoroughly enjoyed our day out at Rainbow Springs. We particularly wanted to experience the 'Kiwi Encounter' and we were not disappointed. Our guide was knowledgeable and friendly, and we were able to watch a baby kiwi being checked over and weighed. They are doing a great job here with kiwi conservation, and it was a pleasure to support their... More

We had a V.I.P tour of the Tuatara's and their babies and an awesome bird show. The Rainbow Spring team is very professional. Many thanks for the experience.

The Rainbow Springs nature walk was very lame, essentially a tour through paths to see a few lizards in cages. The only interesting part is viewing the kiwi at night, but this makes the whole evening worthwhile IMHO.

Our main reason for visiting the park was to see the Kiwis and after reading all the excellent trip adviser reviews were really excited about going - how wrong we were. Firstly, the staff were pretty unhelpful and unfriendly apart from the girls at the front desk who were great. Yes you could see lots of the native animals in... More

We took advantage of the family special to take our granddaughters to this park. They had a great time. They enjoyed the bird show, and the various pools and animals. However the highlight for them was the ride which they rode many times. We also did the kiwi encounter and highly recommend this additional tour and cost. Very well run... More

Thank you! It sounds like you and your family made the most of the park and all it has to offer. Thank you also for taking our behind the scenes kiwi tours. The additional cost for these tours is a donation to the charitable trust that runs the kiwi facility. We hope to welcome you back to the park again... More

just great! it is the park to visit in dark time of a day, everything and everyone has a special charm in night, especially big trees and of course kiwi itself!

Thank you very much for your review, The park is lovely day or night, but you are right, there is a certain charm when visiting the park at night. The coloured lights and the sound of the water make for a very special experience. We hope to welcome you back to the park again some day. More

We saw some beautiful ducks, reptiles, gecko's, trout, waterfalls, Sequoia trees, their native silver fern, some adorable masked lovebirds but my main interest was to see the Kiwi bird in real life. They had stuffed ones in a room and photos on the wall of real ones but because they are nocturnal they had them in a very dark room... More

We came here with our two young children 6 and 7 and baby 8 months and had a great day! The park was lovely to walk around, heaps of informative signs.... There is a cafe for coffee and food (bit pricey, but guess that goes with the territory) shop full of gifts and the children adored the waterslide which they... More

Although our motive for showing up at Rainbow Springs early in our trip to New Zealand was to see a live kiwi and to learn much more about the species, we were initially hesitant as the advertising and signage gave the impression of low-end amusement park. We were in for a very pleasant surprise. Parts of the site are clearly... More

We got to see/learn about the kiwi, as well as other animals. It's a nice park to walk. We even got to feed the pond filled with trout. What impressed us the most was the enthusiasm of our guide. He was informative and seemed to enjoy the different animals within the park. He loved his job.
