A nice bird park. We had an extended kiwi viewing, and then came out and found two tenders who had a kiwi in their hand to administer some medicine. Wow! The bird show was pretty fun too. Food was not great, but oh well.

Beautiful setting for this park, the creek and pond, forest scenery were lovely. Definitely worth paying the extra fee to do the behind the scenes Kiwi tour, money goes to a very good cause, and the information was great. We learned so much. The egg thing was a big of an eye opener. Ouch. My sympathies to the Kiwi... And I... More

This is a park where one can see live Kangaroo, Kiwi etc. Worth seeing. We liked seeing KIWI, which is now endanger animal, only 65000 to 70000 Kiwis survive in NZ.

Its a great place to view kiwis in nature and other smaller animals. It was also nice to see how the park takes pains to preserve and maintain kiwi population (only about 70,000 kiwis left in NZ), otherwise chances are that it might become extinct like Dodo. The park allows reentry at night when kiwis are awake, however due to... More

Nice kiwi displays, although I personally don't like penned animals. Great to see a live one though.

Thank you for taking the time to let us know your thoughts. You have an excellent chance of seeing live kiwi when you visit Rainbow Springs with 3 kiwi on display during the day and another 4 on display as part of our evening experience. Kiwi are endangered and we do our very best to display them in a way... More

Great place to get up and close with numerous types of animals. The bird displays are tremendous and all the trout farms, lizard displays are great. Our favourite was the Kiwi enclosure learning all about the iconic creatures then walking through nocturnal environment trying to spot them. The best thing was entry allows reentry at night when Kiwis are awake... More

Thank you for your review and your positive comments about our Kiwi Encounter facility. Great also that you managed to return at night time, one of the kiwi you would have seen the evening you visited laid their first egg last night! We appreciate your feedback and wish you safe & happy travels. More

Visited during the day & paid extra to see "behind the scenes" of kiwi egg incubation. Went back in the evening to see the kiwis getting up. Saw 4. Rained a lot but the walk round the site was great after dark.

We wished to see and photograph a kiwi in the kiwi house and decided to go on our last day. We telephoned the day prior and were told we had to take a tour between 10am and 4pm. We booked the 10am. On arrival we missed the turn as the major signage stated 'The Big Splash" whatever the heck that... More
