Description: Tamaki Maori Village – Evening Cultural Experience. New Zealand’s Most...
Tamaki Maori Village – Evening Cultural Experience. New Zealand’s Most Awarded Cultural Experience! Experience an evening of ceremonial ritual, powerful cultural performance, storytelling & hangi feasting. Share in the Powhiri, our ancient ceremony of welcome before entering our pre-European Maori Village nestled within a native Tawa Forest. The village comes alive with sights, sounds & activity of days gone by including haka, poi, tattooing, weaving, carving and arts of warrior training. You will have the opportunity to participate in these activities. Witness the earth being scraped away from the hangi pit to reveal baskets of food cooked beneath the ground on hot stones. Enter the ancestral meeting house and enjoy a powerful cultural performance before dining the traditional hangi buffet feast!

The Tamaki Maori Villge is a must do in Rotorua, the evening tour is especially worth the money. The driver keeps the tour group informed and entertained on the short drive to the village, he explained everything that would be required of us when we got there and what to expect. The little workshops we were treated to after the... More

I've been travelling in Australia, NZ and the USA for almost two years now and my visit to Tamaki Maori Village is one of the best experiences I've had. I was on the Kiwi Experience when visiting, which opened us up to the overnight stay option, which you must do if you're on the big green bus. The welcome, the... More

An interesting, varied and entertaining visit. This covers all aspects of Maori life and is both informative and memorable. Provided by young Maoris with a desire to spread and maintain their culture.

Visiting the Tamaki village was one of the highlights of my trip to NZ. Not only do you get a good feed, you also get to experience a wonderful insight into the day to day activities and customs of one of the most beautiful native cultures I have ever come across. In my opinion, it is great night out for... More

We spent a very enjoyable evening at the Tamaki Maori Village. The information on Maori culture and the various activities are well-presented. The people were very welcoming and we would recommend this trip to anyone staying in Rotorua.

This experience is amazing!!! I'm so glad that the Rotorua YHA recommended it and there was a generous discount for YHA members too. We were picked up by a very helpful and friendly driver and taken to the village. The Maori people are just so lovely and welcoming. I can't recommend this experience enough and thank you for your hospitality.... More
