Fantastic evening, and very interesting. The hosts were great, as was the music and dancing, food and atmosphere. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting NZ! The smokey roasted kumara was possibly the best thing i ate whilst in NZ!

From the moment of pick up through the thrilling presentation of Maori welcoming ceremonies to the excellent dance and singing ending with a fantastic buffet the Tamaki experience is above reproach. You must choose this if you visit Rotorua.

We had a fun evening learning about the Maori people and their customs from pre-European time. We learned a few words of the language, the games they played, the dances and songs that have been handed down. Then we enjoyed a traditional hangi buffet dinner. Even the bus ride back to the hotel was fun -- we sang songs together.... More

This was an experience I would recommend to anyone visiting New Zealand. Rotorua has many tourist attractions but this would be number 1 on the to do list.

We did the overnight stay at Tamaki Village and it was so much fun! You arrive hours before the regular tour, have snacks & drinks, play traditional Maori games, learn a song, learn how to weave flax leaves, listen to stories and get a much more in-depth look at their culture and history. You see the show and partake in... More

This night was one of the most memorable experiences I have of my trip in New Zealand so far! To start, my bus driver was AWESOME and so fun! Learning about the Maori culture was so interesting and fun to learn. You have a "hands-on" learning experience in there village learning, crucial part of how they serviced and lived back... More

We had a group of seven Australian friends visiting. I'm recommended Tamai Maori Village as their main cultural experience in Rotorua and I was not disappointed. From our telephone booking, friendly welcome at the meeting office, hilarious bus trip, great presentation of various Maori activities, beautiful singing and excellent buffet food. It is well presented, even if a little rote... More

The highlight of our trip to NZ. Loved this experience. Learning about Maori culture in a hands on way and the enjoyable meal at the end. However, the singing of pop songs at the end of the dinner and being forced to sing songs like "she'll be going round the mountain" on the bus on the way back to our... More

This tour was great from the moment out bus driver Dennis picked us up. A charmingly funny older Maori man he explained what was ahead of us that evening. I won't go into too much detail as it's best to experience yourself but it was very informative, engaging and an amazing all you can eat buffet cooked in the traditional... More
