Great experience all around. Being from the United States, it was really interesting to learn about the Maori culture and customs. Our bus driver, Mark, was fantastic. I will admit, I didn't know what to make of him and was perhaps a little intimidated by him when he picked us up...but he was hilarious. Both on the way to the... More

We really had a great night here on our trip. The company have really done their best to capture the atmosphere of the Maori village and you really feel you have stepped back in time! The pride the people feel in their culture was clear and we learned a lot during the short tour. The dinner was delicious and I... More

Advertised as an authentic hangi, but my Maori friend said different. However, the food was delicious, although we had to wait for the dishes to be topped up... We were 2nd last table to be called up. Glass of wine very expensive. Entertainment was excellent . So was bus driver. So if you are after an authentic hangi, which I... More

I remember visiting Tamaki as a 10 year old back in 1990 or 1991 and brought my family back. It was an amazing night-- every detail was perfect and there's a reason they are #1 in the field. From the bus pickup, to the cultural activities, to the scrumptious buffet hangi, this is the perfect introduction to Maori culture. Was... More

The entire family (kids, teens, college, adults) thought this was a fantastic evening. The culture, the music, the entertainment were fabulous. The food was very good. Yummy dessert. Pick up was around 5:30; we were back at the visitor center around 9:15.

As an educator, this was an outstanding experience for my student group as well as for myself and the other adults in our tour group. The surroundings, the interactive and informative "lessons", the thermal cooking, the meal and every detail were impressive and educational. It was also highly entertaining and a great deal of fun! Most of all, the Maori... More

We weren't really sure whato to expect. We were picked up from our holiday park and transferred to the Tamaki office in Rotorua. The young man behing the counter took a rather long time to find our tickets (we had pre purchased through our travel agent). Finally we had a seat and waited. We were then transferred via bus to... We went to this with our 5, 7, and 10 year olds. They were all engaged and interested, and we learned a fair share on the Maori culture. Our bus driver was hilarious. The food was average but interesting to try as it had a distinct earthy flavor.

An excellent show from all the Maoris. Authentic with fires and floodlights in the forest. An excellent meal and a night we will always remember
