Experience an evening of ceremonial ritual, powerful cultural performance, storytelling & hangi feasting. Share in the Powhiri, our ancient ceremony of welcome before entering our pre-European Maori Village nestled within a native Tawa Forest. The village comes alive with sights, sounds & activity of days gone by including haka, poi, tattooing, weaving, carving and arts of warrior training. Enter the ancestral meeting house and enjoy a powerful cultural performance before dining the traditional hangi buffet feast!

We really enjoyed the Tamaki village experience. There was a bit of a hiccup with the bus pickup, but after calling again to confirm, we were picked up and taken to the Tamaki village. We liked how they split the group into smaller groups to take you through stations concerning different aspects of the village. The presentations were all interesting... More

It's an amazing experience where they take you to one of the Maori villages and put up a great show illustrating the living conditions, hunting methods and village life of the original inhabitants of New Zealand, before the Europeans. The experience includes a great dinner feast, where the mutton is cooked in Hangis (earthen ovens) in front of you. They... More

As a family of 3 we thoroughly enjoyed the Tamaki Maori Village. We were collected from our caravan park by shuttle & transferred into town to await another bus & guests. The show was entertaining allbeit a little staged, however it was a great insight to Maori Culture. The traditional Hangi was interesting & the food was delicious. We were... More

From the moment you arrive at Tamaki Maori Village, memories are created. The spectacular welcome, the insight into Maori culture, the food and most of all the people there really make this a wonderful experience.

I have visited a handful of Polynesian Cultural Dinner and Shows from a few different islands. Most notably is the one in Honolulu, Hawaii. My experience started out poorly, being picked up in an older bus that clearly had no air-conditioning. As we stopped to pick up other tourists, they were not ready so we were dropped off at the... The whole experience is one to remember, from the moment you step onto the bus which picks you up at your hotel, to the moment you step off that bus at the end of the night. Yes the whole event is fun, with a great insight into Maori culture and great shows. Everyone is involved in the activities from learning... More

We caught the bus to Tamaki from our accommodation despite having a hire car and it was certainly a major bonus of this experience. Our bus driver, Dennis was fantastic and very entertaining. My kids always include the hilarious bus ride and their experience at Tamaki when they recount their tour of NZ to their friends. It was a great... More

From the moment our bus began the trip to Tamaki Village, we as guests were made to feel most welcome and to actively participate. After a traditional welcome we were invited to watch or attempt certain aspects of Maori life. My favourite was the haka. After the demonstrations we were treated to entertainment and a traditional feast or hangi (not... More
