There's something special about the Redwoods. Five minutes from the city and you are immersed in this beautiful forest. You can stroll, power walk or run. Go alone, in a group, or with the dog (on a leash). The fauna is lovely as are the changing colours of the small hot lake you cross shortly after entering the forest. There... More

WOW !! Such beautiful surroundings and brilliant tracks for all ages. We had so much fun here. Entry to the forest itself is free. As visitors we hired bikes/helmets for 2 adults, 2 teens and 2 young ones for 2 hours. Adults=NZ$35 Children=NZ$20 each. My 7 and 8 yr olds and I rode 3 tracks in about 1.5 hrs, some... More

This place is brilliant to walk and run in. I'm so grateful that we live in Rotorua and have this amazing place on our door step. One gripe though - because of the huge amount of tour groups I think they should be asked not to block up the tracks as loads of people are out running, so a bit... More

Hi Noelene T, so glad as a local you love the Redwoods and enjoy the recreational benefits of this great facility. Thanks for your comments about the toilets. They do get cleaned a minimum of three times a day on a ratation with other public toilets, however I will advise the cleaners of the smell issue...don't want smelly loos! As... More

Not often you get to getaway from the hustle and bustle of modern life... especially all the electronics the kids have today. The kids really did not want to do this walk, but I forced them into it. In about 5minutes into the walk, the kids were having so much fun they forgot all about their electronics. I would highly... More

I didn't have a car, so this was the closest "big" forest to access from Rotorua and the Redwoods are beautiful. I did the longest track - 11.3 k - and the redwood trees themselves are only on the lower part of the forest. The higher on the hill you climb, the trees change and are just super tall. There... We had 2 9 year old kids and a toddler so just walked the short 'memorial track'. Totally peaceful and beautiful with a mixture of majestic redwoods and native bush. If I lived in Rotorua, I would walk this track as often as possible. Next time, we will tackle a longer track. For the kids, the visitor centre has free... More
