Really enjoyed the guided tour (seriously, take the guided tour, you'll get so much more out of it). Our guide was entertaining and engaging. He included interactive bits as much as possible, tossing out trivia and giving us the opportunity to play with white and grey mud. The hour and a half flew by (and actually, it was a bit... More

We came twice. The first time we simply visited the geothermal area which is very impressive. Be warned it is smelly. My eldest found the smell a challenge for his asthma. However I found I got used to it fairly quickly and was more intrigued by the bubbling mud than put off by the smell. The second time we came... More

A really nice easy walk through a geothermal park, be warned it is smelly but a interesting site. The wood carver we had was the most lovely man, so sweet & friendly, give it a try see how good you carve, all staff seemed to enjoy the work & customers. The mud bath is very weird at first but then... More

… more like a primary school excursion experience. Cold, exposed to the elements change rooms and shower blocks, plastic bins for you to carry around your belongings, and staff monitoring your time in the pools (not necessarily a bad thing, though I can't imagine too many people spending more than the recommended 20 minutes in mud bath). All this for... More

Despite us visiting Hell's Gate on a pretty wet September day we were completely awestruck by what we saw. The various mud pools and sulphur pools - each quite different were terrific to see. We took just over an hour to tour the grounds but, had the weather been mrs kind to us we would have taken longer. The, as... More

I'm from Auckland and am visiting Rotorua with my English partner. I have been to a few of these geothermal sites and this was my favourite. I read a review where someone described it like being on the moon - so true! Mud volcano and mud spa my highlights. Highly recommended! :-)

We did the walk around the park and finished it off with a mud bath and sulphur spa. I did enjoy it and the staff were friendly. It was a little over priced. I was hoping the mud bath would be thicker but we still coated ourselves with it. The sulphur spa was relaxing, even though it hailed whilst we... More

I went to the Twilight spa with 2 other friends and we absolutely loved it! It is a must do in Rotorua!! It is relaxing and peaceful. The staff is really helpful! It is a pretty unique experience. It is a 20mins mud "bath", then you can jump into different pools at different temperatures. You can see a little bit... More

This was an amazing experience - entirely worthwhile - utterly astounding. I highly recommend it for geologists and amateur geologists alike. There's also something there for the English majors interested in Bernard Shaw!

It s the only place where you can do a mud Bath and sulphur spring. Opt for the private rooms where you have privacy and plenty of time on hand. Advance booking is recommended as they close the private section in case of no bookings. A worthwhile experience.
