This was exactly what we wanted to do last time we were in Rotorua but didn't have time. We were picked up from our hotel (free service), bang on time and enjoyed the walk around the park which was part of our combo package. Then did the mud bath and sulphur spa. We enjoyed our visit very much and would... More

My husband and I did the walk, mud spa, and hot pool combo. I recommend doing this combo so you can experience everything Hells Gate has to offer. The walk was pretty cool to see all the geological wonders. The mud bath was very relaxing, as well as the hot pool after the mud bath. Once in the hot pools... More

Certainly a unique experience and a must do while you are there! This will not take more than an hour, so worth a visit! The sulphur ponds were awesome and something I have never seen!

The stories/facts the tour guide will tell you about the various hot pools definitely add to the experience, they are more than happy to answer your questions. You can still walk around the park yourself, but I think it wouldn't be as good.

I didnt think much of getting into a mud pool and covering myself in mud but you will be pleasently surprised. The temperature of the pools was perfect for me anyway. Not too hot, not too cold. Afterward you get to soak in the normal thermal sulphur pools which is nice. Pretty expensive but then again so is everything to... More

Not having another similar experience to judge by, all I can say is that I was a little underwhelmed by the whole experience. The park looks like it needs a revamp, the walking tracks were a little haphazard with the wooden borders broken down or missing, it all looks like it needs a bit of loving. I had been hoping... Kia Ora Dean, Thank for your most recent visit to Hells Gate and the review that has followed. We are sorry to hear that you were underwhelmed by your experience or it has not met your expectations. Our Geothermal Park is very different to any other in the area as it the most active and only 2.5km above the magma... More

Really enjoyed the self guided up close experience. After the tour we experienced the mud bath, sulphur pools and massage.....all excellent. Use one of their suits and towels. The mud is so hard to get out and the sulphur smell also requires a special washing, but a should not miss!

The mud spa could be better but I'm pretty sure they don't have any competition, which could account for their complacency. I booked a private mud bath and had to reschedule it. I called to reschedule and the lady said, "Yeah that should be fine." I didn't like not having confirmation so had to call again. We arrived and they... More

The walk around the geothermal mud pools was interesting though you may find the free ones just as interesting. The Spa was not the Spa experience I was expecting. We booked way in advance and paid the extra for a private bath. There was only one mud bath set up and we had to share it two people at a... More

I got to do something at this place that I've always really wanted to do...have a mud bath !! The walk around the park probably isn't quite as good as the other ones in Rotorua but as they're fairly different there's still lots to see here. The mud pool was really awesome. You don't get to go in for very... More
