I booked in for a mud bath & spa. The mud bath was very, very relaxing. The mud made my skin feel amazing & the spa afterwards was very invigorating. The problem was that the sulphur smell stayed on my skin & hair for days - even after constant showering. I ended up throwing out my swimming costume because I... More

Very far from the agitated Te Puia. We reached here around 10:30 and were nearly alone. It was very enjoyable and a nice way to get introduced to this environment. We really liked it and recommended it to all our friends

The whole family had the best time here, a memorable experience we still talk about. Don't wear your best bikini though, you'll never be able to get rid of the smell.

A little drive out of town, this was not like any other site we went to. We did not bother with the spa, and went straight out into what I can only describe as an other worldly landscape. It is a desolate, baron, stark landscape of rock and pools, with scorched earth and vegetation. The pathway around is easy to... More

The mud baths are more like industrial troughs behind a cupboard door, filled with muddy water which you have to get in and scrabble around the bottom of to find some actual mud. Once your mud 'experience' is over you're forced (literally) under a freezing shower until every speck of mud is removed. Moving on to the hot pools- sitting... More

The grandsons, my daughter and I had a great time strolling through the boiling mud and steam pools, which I first enjoyed with her mother many years ago. Not quite as much 'glooping' (think porridge) mud as some would have liked, but plenty to keep us all fascinated. The added attraction of two Maori carvers who gave us the chance... More

This was to be the highlight of our visit to Rotorua but sadly it was very disappointing. The mud was very shallow, barely warm and ruined out swimsuits and towels. It is very costly for what was offered, an overhaul and update of facilities is overdue.

This was an extrememly interesting park, where it explained not only how the geothermal geysers and mudpools work, but let you put your feet in a mudpool for free! For an extra fee, you can go to the mudbaths, where you are able to soak your whole body in the mudpool! We loved this park, and reccomend the wood carving... More

Visited here in October 2014 to have a mud bath. Was a great experience but doubt I would come back again. Staff are friendly but the facilities are a little tired. Just remember to bring a pair of swimmers that you are happy to throw out after, you won't want to take them home with you!
