Was a really interesting experience but way too expensive for what it was. The facilities were pretty basic and outdated - it's a bit of an overstatement to call it a "spa" and looks like something out of the 1980s. The photos on the web site make it look a lot higher end than it actually is; the shower facilities... More

As a relaxing way to spend a few hours, this was great! We soaked in the mud for 20 minutes and then moved to the Sulphur pools. By the end of it we were so relaxed. The staff were absolutely awesome - very clear that they love their jobs! Ngahoia was our spa attendant and was always close by for... More

A nice way to relax, we only tried the mud spa though (treatments are also available). It was good but nothing that set it greatly aside from other spas in town. The mud was fun I guess, but not a deal breaker for me. Caution: the mud will stain your bathing clothes, so recommend using something dark or an old... More

Great experience at hello gate with amazing attendants that are happy to share local tradition and customs with hit spring guests. Definitely Definitely bring your bathers and also some walking shoes for an amazing bush track through hells gate

My mum and I chose to come to yells gate for a relaxing spa treatment as apposed to some of the spas in town that we found to be overpriced for what u got. Yes $240 seems like a lot of money but we felt we got every dollars worth! We were welcomed by friendly staff and given clear instructions... More

This was my first mud bath experience but it was a good one from start to finish. We visited during the winter months so it was COLD outside and it took some courage to strip down to our swimsuits to get into the mud bath and then the sulphur pool. The water is warm and the mud/sulphur is supposed to... More

We went for the Twilight spa and it was great. The sulphur pools and mud bath were divine, especially in the middle of winter when it is freezing outside. Would recommend bringing flip flops to go between pools as we froze our feet off!

What I imagined hell to be as a kid and you can see why it is called Hell's Gate - always wonder why it is used as a film set more - it is not the biggest but so desolate it is frightening.

We visited for the day and had a great day out. The walk was good and didn't take too long. There was also a carving station at the end of the walk for is to carve out wood! Very well set up. We visited the spa afterwards, it was good. Very reasonably priced as well at $90 per adult for... More
