As a nearly 74 year old, I booked this holiday feeling a little apprehensive, I need not have had any worries. My walking companions and guide were excellent, letting me walk at my own pace. The accommodation, a wooded cabin in the bush, so peaceful. The walk along the Coromandel walkway was perhaps the most spetacular walk I have ever... More

As a 50 year old couple with a 15 year old daughter and only moderate levels of fitness we approached this walk with some apprehension. The walk was challenging for us but the rewards magnificent, stunning scenery, the highlight of our two week stay on the North Island. Rainier our guide was brilliant offering encouragement, lots of interesting information about... More

One of my best tramps ever! Hillary was so helpful, patient and enthusiastic on the phone with my questions at H.Q. Rainer my guide was a fountain of information about the mountains and the lakes and the importance of the land to the Maori people. He was passionate, articulate, patient and just great fun to be with. Everything was so well... More

The guides were friendly, full of energy, and full of interesting information. You could tell they really knew the areas they were escorting you through, and had a deep love for their beautiful country. I found them very supportive and well-organised, making the who trip exciting and relaxing. The walks they chose to show us were suitable to the group,... More

This was my fourth guided Great Walk and the first to use DOC huts - 4 days around Lake Waikaremoana.. It was a lot of fun and sufficiently challenging. The weather wasn't great. Day 1 and 4 were solid rain. Day 2 cloudy but not much rain. Day 3 when we got to the top (we went anticlockwise) was lovely... More

We - two of us - were part of a small group who did the Coromandel Explorer and Waikaremoana Discovery recently. We had a great time, and were very impressed with Walking Legend's organisation and all aspects of the.trip. We went to fascinating, beautiful and remote parts, did a variety of walks - all good, and tailored to our various... More

Did this walk with some trepidation and it is a hard walk but the scenery is stunning..a real 'out of this world' experience. there were 2 led groups..one by a man and another by a female guide. i found the male guide less than supportive when I struggled. He fell into the lead from the front, sometimes wait for the... More

We have done 3 treks with Walking Legends over past 4 years and each has been as enjoyable as the other. The service around ones booking is most gratifying...you don't get stuffed around..if the trip is on its on...so you do not have concerns about booking airfares etc. On our last trip it went ahead with us plus a visitor... We are a group of 8 Kiwi women aged 57 to 74, who are regular trampers. We decided to “treat” ourselves to the Lake Waikaremoana walk, one of NZ’s Great Walks, with Walking Legends. From the first email, to the drop off back in Rotorua, Hilary and her team were excellent to deal with and got everything organised. We enjoyed... More

A great trip that both my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed. Great guides - Callum and Trent making life very comfortable and serving essentially restaurant quality food in a pretty remote area. The walk itself is beautiful, such a fantastic location which we essentially had to ourselves each day. We would thoroughly recommend walking legends if you are considering a... More
