There is a short walk to the Haruru Falls from the road. It is a short falling waterfall but is wide falling over a rocky cliff. Nice place to just sit and watch the water for a while. Truely Pretty and well worth seeing more
If your looking for light hiking in the Paihia area, try the Mangrove walk right up the street from the Waitangi Visitors Centre. The 2 hour hike through the fern forests and mangrove trees winds up and down the hill side, across the river and up into the Haruru Falls park.
