Best way to see Islands, large windows make photography easy. Pilot great, pointing out landmarks and explaining history of area throughout flight.

We took off from Paihia with our pilot Sean giving us a 45 minute flight around the the Bay of Islands. The copter trip was wonderful. We landed on the top of the Hole in the Rock island and spent 10 minutes there with quite a view of the other islands. Our pilot was very knowledgeable on the history of... More

There is no better way to see the Bay of Islands! All on board have a window seat which is what you want. Our pilot was great & very informative & the ground crew are really lovely as well. We flew out to the Hole in the Wall & back over Russell & past the Waitangi Treaty Grounds. In comparison... More

Absolutely brilliant! The views from the plane provided another perspective on this magical area. The scenery was magnificent, the commentary provided the context, Daniel our pilot was an excellent informative guide and knowledgable on the Northland area. The land trip to the Cape Reinga Lighthouse, Te Paki sand dunes and morning tea at a secluded cove were unexpected surprises. The... More

Best way to see Bay of Islands by far, from above. Very capable and friendly pilot (Manu). Our skipper Shaun then took us to a private island for a few hours, and then a lovely sail back to Paihia, stopping off on a few islands. This would be an entire day activity, and well worth the money.

We arrived into Pahia, Bay of Islands by cruise ship and after taking the shuttle into Pahia noticed a gorgeous sleek, black Helicopter next to the drop off point. It was a clear still morning so we jumped at the thought of flying over the Bay of Islands and out to the Hole in the Rock where we'd been before... More

My husband and I went on the 20 minute helicopter flight over the bay of islands. The scenery was stunning. We spotted a pod of dolphins and Manu took us back around to get a better look at them. Thank you Salt Air for an amazing experience we will never forget!

Salt Air operate a number of tours by fixed wing aircraft and helicopters - we were staying in Kerikeri and wanted to see Ninety Mile Beach and Cape Reinga but as is often the case had limited time - the bus trip takes the full day. Add to that the benefit of aerial views of both coastlines, whilst still getting... More
