Carino Sailing and dolphin adventures is a trip on a sailing catamaran which gets you out on the bay without having to share with a huge crowd like some of the other trips. Flippers and snorkel & mask were provided on board. We had a superb day, managed to swim with the dolphins twice (!) what an unforgettable experience. We... More

We had a great group onboard the Carino catamaran - people from Switzerland, France and Holland. The boat was roomy and the staff was super informative (thanks Scott) and friendly. We also had a researcher onboard so we got an extra lesson in dolphin observation. Unfortunately we didn't get to swim with them. It doesn't seem it was even a... More

Since we had some bad experience with tour operators down south, I put some time into researching for the best cruise/sail in the Bay of Islands. What I came up with was the Carino. The perfect mixture for us: -spacious boat (even though it was more or less fully booked there was PLENTY of room for everyone) so no "fighting"... More

This is the second time I have sailed on the carino and I loved it last time. This time I still loved the boat, the spots we visited the penguins and many many dolphins. It was all great except the service we received on boarding the boat. On boarding I was told to hurry up and pay because we were... More

Dear Livesinnz Thank you for your feedback, we do appreciate all comments on our tour. Yes we were late for the Russell pickup and we do apologize for this. We had been waiting in Paihia for a booking that not reconfirmed. We ask that all guests call and reconfirm their booking for weather, lunch and departure port updates. When we... More

What a great day! Wonderful. friendly, highly skilled and informative crew, who really semed to care about what they were doing and were keen to share their knowledge. The Carino herself was a lovely boat and it was great to travel under sail. The trip consisted of us sailing around the bay on th lookout for wildlife, plenty of seabirds... More

Brilliant attraction, sailing (i.e. with the wind as well as an engine) around the islands, saw dolphins really close up. Informative and attentive crew. I saw another boat and thought wow, there are a lot of people on taht boat, we had a handful, perhaps 20 and it was superb as there was space to move around, no crowding and... More

We took this tour on 15 December 2013. We spent the day sailing and motoring around the bay and only saw a few penguins, which was a disappointment. As this operator doesn't have a guarantee on seeing dolphins we were left with no refund or alternative day offered. The boat was clean, well maintained; the crew friendly; there were plenty... More

This was one of the best trips of our whole holiday. The crew were friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. Most importantly for me, they really cared about the wildlife and the dolphins. We came across one pod with a 17 day old baby - a lot of the dolphins came really close to the boat, which was amazing to see. We... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our day sailing/cruising with Carino - the crew were friendly and helpful, a commentary around the islands was informative. Unfortunately we didn't get to swim with the dolphins as there was a baby in the pod but there were lots of dolphins to ooh and aah over. We found this trip to be very good value for... More

Having done most of the other Bay of Island boat trips we decided to try a day sailing on Carino in the hope of finding some dolphins and the chance to swim with them. The day was breezy with a bit of chop and after a brief pause for a glimpse of a small pod of dolphins chasing a boat... More
