We went on the triple tour which gives you entry to the chocolate museum, lunch at the cafe and a talk and some take home chocs in the shop. Was a lovely way to spend the day. The chocolate drinks in the cafe were stunning. The gift shop at the museum were priced well. The passion of the chocolate makers... More

Are family went on the triple chocolate temptation tour and we where the only ones on it. We got some sample chocolate at the start of the tour which went down very well with all of us. Then we were given a guided tour of the museum which was pitched just right to keep all of us interested, even are... More

Lunch was with a large group of ladies the overall experience was great although the price of standard lunch items were a little expensive and no price difference between a salmon quiche thing and a spinach one. It was the little extras that were provided that seemed to counteract the cost. ie cookies and chocolate.

The person in charge of the tour in making chocolates was not around and we were not informed in the first place. Sad as there was only a small tv to show the process. It's ok to give it a miss other than buying chocolates.

We are pleased that you have enjoyed our chocolates, but sorry, I can’t quite follow this review. Most of our tours need to be pre-booked, as it is impractical for us to run chocolate all day, every day during the winter season. This is clearly stated on our website. We have won Trip Advisor’s 2015 Certificate of Excellence, for all... More

Love the food out here. I think this definitely covers a 'cafe' style selection of food. Silky oak had advertised somewhere i think it was on Facebook, a walnut cheesecake which i tried on my last visit out. OMG it was devine! I had the cron fritter with bacon stack that was so good. I like how there is ALWAYS... More

Thank you for taking the time to write this lovely review. With mentioning OMG did you know we have a range of 30 fudges in the chocolate shop. One that we make from time to time is called OMG, and it really is OMG, with peanut butter, marshmallow, caramel included in the fudge (it is to die for). More

Me and my mum stumbled in here looking for breakfast. It appeared that they had a lunch menu on the blackboard and food in the cabinets but it didn't seem like they had a breakfast menu so we settled on something from the cabinet only to find once we got to the counter that there was a breakfast menu-we were... Thank you for taking the time to write a review. The breakfast menu is normally displayed alongside the food cabinets. We have now, on our blackboard, wording regarding the breakfast menu, so that customers are more aware of what food is available. We are pleased you enjoyed our chocolate. I see that you are from Tauranga. Are you aware that... More

I live locally and go to the café on a Saturday afternoon sometimes. I like to order hot chocolate but am always disappointed despite asking for it to be HOT every time it seems to come luke warm, nothing wrong with the taste or presentation but PLEASE make it HOT. On one occasion a nice young lady that was clearing... More

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. Regarding the temperature of the hot chocolate drink. We do not make them too hot, as not only does it scald the milk, but as we use real chocolate as part of the drink, it is very easy to burn the chocolate, resulting in a change to the taste. Can... A family run business with real heart and soul. Silly Oak has not only a chocolate shop but cafe and museum. Hats off to Jeanette Darwen & her family for tackling the creation and upkeep of a museum, they have done a great job considering they are not professional curators. Ok so Silky Oak don't do single origin chocolate, but... More

Located in a beautiful rural setting. The cafe offers a great variety of counter food and a la carte menu, dine indoors or alfresco. The gift shop is full of great gifts, treats and baking accessories. Fabulous array of chocolates and fudges made on the premises.

The place is a cafe, a chocolate factory with a museum, gift shop, and chocolate shop. The cafe has standard fare with some interesting ones that are wraps or baked goods (sweet & non-sweet). It's decent food, I liked the muesli cake (or whatever it was called), and you can have your sweets (like my cake) come with a side... More
