For such lovely (and pricey) wines they could surely try harder. Cellar door is tiny and looks straight into the admin offices, maybe shut a door or frost a window?!

We travelled to find the home of one of our favourite wines only to find them closed - despite their website saying - Open Daily!! Is it too much to ask that these places advertise their Winter Hours??

This wine tasting experience was different to others I have experienced. The chap we spoke with didn't offer information on the wine, instead we given the list of wine and read what the wine was made up of which was fine....but then he is just stood there watching us taste. We did ask questions but his answers were very closed.... More

We wanted to visit this little gem after hearing about & tasting some of there wines whilst travelling in NZ. The lady looking after us instantly made us feel relaxed and welcome - They offer a range of quality wines from $20-$50 , the tasting was informal and unpretentious . We are looking forward to going back to taste &... More

Great wine and a relaxed tasting experience, No one is in a hurry and the wine is great. Definitely worth a trip out as is better than some of the bigger estates.

We had a short break in Hawkes Bay immediately before Christmas, and one stop was at Te Mata. We know their wines well, and buy most years to cellar. James was doing the tastings the day we were in and he was great - knowledgable and unobtrusive. We were also fortunate that John Buck passed through and stopped for a... More

On our way back to Wellington after a lovely visit to the Bay, important to visit and learn a bit more about what winesTe Mata has on offer for tasting and buying. No deposit rubbish here for tasting. Te Mata are proud enough of their product that they know you'll enjoy and want to buy their wines, which we did... More

Loved our visit to the cellar door. Nice wines for around $20 a bottle or more up market for $40-$50. The lady was lovely and the place had a relaxed vibe compared to a winery up the road that was very snobby and pretentious. Would recommend for a tasting! We also bought two bottles.

Te Mata Winery is not a showy winery but is well worth a visit. Their wines are excellent and the employees very knowledgeable. We enjoyed their Cape Crest Sauvignon Blanc so much we ordered it with our dinner at Mangapapa Hotel that evening. They had some of the best wines of any of our stops and you should pay them...
