The trust ensures that the local buildings are kept in the manner they should be. They run tours which are excellent and are to be commended as they are just superb. They run an Intro to start then the tour and a film to

We took the one hour Art Deco guided walk with Barry as our guide. This was a condensed version of the two hour tour which took visitors inside some of the key Art Deco buildings. Barry added humour and facts in abundance. The tour was excellent value for money and highly recommended.

We did the 2 hour Art Deco Guided Walk and it was fantastic. Watched a video at the beginning and end about the history of Napier, the earth quake and a little about art deco architecture so walk time is more like 1 hour. Guide was very knowledgeable and clearly passionate about the subject. Loved learning about the historic buildings... More

This shop could be a lovely experience since it stocks excellent art deco and New Zealand products - BUT to encouter racist figures of black Africans is apalling. These may have been funny to some in past times but no longer to most.

Went to Art Deco for the three days and it was so much fun. Everyone dresses up and gets into the spirit of the 1930s. Weather was amazing and lots of free activities plus paid events. Because it's so popular the parking is a nightmare. One suggestion would be that the Trust have some shuttle buses running from some parking... More

Step back in time with the Art Deco Walking tour, our guide was extremely knowledgable about the period, architecture and history of Napier. Tour was reasonably paced but not rushed and ample time given to take pictures and ask questions. So much to see, wear trainers. Good value for money.

Be prepared for crowds, Art Deco has become so popular over the years that they could almost to with having 2 summer events. There is a winter one which is smaller and indoors. Accommodation is getting harder to book, don't even think about getting somewhere in town as the majority of the places now want a minimum of 4 nights... More

If you're heading to Napier NZ in February, this is a must see attraction! In 1931 Napier was devasted by a large 7.8 earthquake, so most buildings had to be demolished and rebuilt. A lot of these new buildings were built in Art Deco style, thus the celebrations commemorating the architecture and rebuild. There are numerous paying events and just... More
