The Zoo is located on the northern outskirts of the city and occupies a site which slopes gently downhill. The animals look well cared for with large enclosures, which sometimes means it is difficult to see them. I was lucky to catch a glimpse of some tiger cubs and their mother and the chimps have the most beautiful enclosure I've... More

Situated right next to an observatory, the grounds and range of animals is a must to visit for the wee kids. Adults will find just as much enjoyment from well signposted paths and viewing platforms for awesome photo opportunities. Cafe and playground and friendly staff. Check ahead of time and see if you can Meet the Keepers or feed particular... More

The Hamilton Zoo is one of the most natural environments I have come across in a zoo. It is an absolute pleasure walking through the Zoo and seeing all the animals. The zoo is always very clean and a fun place to visit. Its a must do when visiting Hamilton.

Had a great time here. We especially enjoyed the chimpanzees who seemed to put on a show for us. The giraffes looked wonderful in their savannah type enclosure. All in all a good day out.

The Hamilton Zoo is a great day out. The enclosures are large, which is good for the animals, but the way a lot of them are structured makes it feel like you are right up close to the animals. We went when the tiger cubs were about 6 weeks old. They were really good about explaining that we probably wouldn't... More

A variety of animals in large enclosures that provide a range of viewing opportunities, including their massive bird aviary.

Its a great place to have a walk with the added bonus of the wildlife. My kids have been there about 50 time and still enjoy going back.

Our visit to Hamilton Zoo was a wonderful experience and a great attraction for Hamilton. So many different animals and birds to see. It's hard to pick a favourite area, but the giraffes were a highlight. The native bird area is special too, when you can look up and see a wood pidgeon sitting a couple of metres above your... More

Visited by myself one morning and quite enjoyed taking my time and wandering around looking at all the animals. All the animals seemed well cared for and the enclosures seemed a decent size and suitable for the animals. A bonus was the Chimpanzee sitting right next to the viewing window. The path down to the Giraffe/ Zebra enclosure is a... More

We had a great day at the zoo. It has been some years since we had been but was certainly plenty to do and see. we were lucky enough to see some of the animals being fed and hear the zoo keepers talk about the animals. Take a picnic lunch as cuts down on costs. Entry fee is fairly priced
