The zoo is well placed on the Hamilton boundary and priced for the local and tourist market and this is a nice change for locals. I found that an able bodied person would manage the zoo walk quite well with a couple of hills and plenty of distance to work with. For those like myself who have mobility challenges, they... More

We visited a couple of weekends back and the weather was not so great but we had a fantastic time. A very impressive selection of birds, monkey, big cats, gerrafs, pigs, rhinoceros, and a truly impressive free flight aviary. Good paths, clean under foot and a nice stroll in a pleasant park like enviroment. It is a circular circuit and... More

We did not quite know what to expect and were absolutely blown away. The meandering pathways elevated this experience into a really beautiful walk in the park. The red Pandas, the Meercats, the Chipms, the Giraffs ... don't know where to stop. And it is a good feeling that they keep on improoving it. The talks at the enclosures are... More

We went to the zoo having been in the area visiting Hobbiton. We booked the private chimpanzee eye to eye for two costing $75 (around £30),however this is a flat fee for groups up to 5 people. The experience was incredible, being so close to the chimpanzees and lasted around an hour. We first setup their living area with all... More

Nice family friendly zoo - good enclosures and easy to get around with a push chair. The monkeys are definitely the highlight!

We got the family pass for 5 and the face to face with the Lemurs and the whole experience was just $120 - much less than Auckland Zoo. We spend 4 hours looking around and got to hand feed lemurs. Great experience!

This place is amazing, its 100% better than Wellington and we would go back in a heart beat. Took our family 4 hours to get right through because their was so much to take in.
