Good info about the Waikato River, interactive set up's for the children. Good history of Hamilton, and well set up with friendly staff. Had an amazing cafe too!

The Maori canoe and carving is impressive as are the sections outlining the history of Hamilton. Travelling and special exhibitions are always interesting.

Small museum but showcases the Waikato and has an art gallery too. Rotating exhibitions are interesting.

As I was travelling on my own I had a large backpack with me, thankfully they have storage facilities so I didn't have to drag it around with me. I saw the Kermadecs exhibition. It was informative and interesting. I was glad I went as I knew nothing about it prior to my visit.

We specifically went to see the roman machines exhibition and it was a great time to see the roman tech and play with it first hand. Upon walking around the museum the rest if the museum was very interesting and a great time. If you have time defiantly stop by and check out the museum.

You can swing through in an hour or so and have lunch on the same street. Staff are lovely. This is a great museum, it's... More

We visited the Waikato Museum specifically to see the Roman Machines exhibition, as my husband used to teach Ancient Studies. A very interesting exhibition, with a few 'hands on' exhibits for children (and adults) to try. Especially interesting when you see how these machines influenced what is used today in several industries.

Although this museum looks very small from the outside, it is much bigger inside. It has a magnificent Maori waka on display with fascinating information displayed around it. The gallery dealing with early European settlement in the Waikato is brilliant, interactive, with lots of information - and much better done than the equivalent in the Dunedin museum (Otago settlers or...
