The MJ Savage Memorial Park is a very beautiful and vast park. It offers a fantastic view of the harbour and the skyline of city of Auckland. The park is very peaceful and tranquil offering visitors a quiet place for contemplation.

This park is accessible from Tamaki Drive (the road that runs from Auckland CBD along Mission Bay, St Helliers Bay etc..). It has a memorial for the first Labour PM of New Zealand. The memorial itself is surrounded by stunning flowers, plants and a rectangle shaped pond. There is also great views of both Rangitoto Island and the Sky Tower/Auckland... More

Although the weather was searing, we were determined to visit this beauty ... M J Savage Park. Golly! We're glad that we came. Pretty fully bloomed gardens awaiting to welcome us to pay a brief tribute at Michael Joseph's memorial. The gardens are well maintained... perhaps there should be signs to prevent visitors from climbing over and stepping on the... More

A really lovely bay with spectacular views of the harbour and skyline of Auckland. A great respite from a busy day of touring.

Lots of visitors around so it isn't exactly peaceful but worth a visit for the views. The view from this park of Auckland city and the harbour are excellent!

Though i visited during the time when most of the flowers were not blooming. The peaceful atmosphere, several gigiantic roses and beautiful greenery were good combination. the place is very well maintained.

While Mission Bay is a bit of a yawn, on the hill just to the city side of it there is this stunningly beautiful set of gardens around the memorial of the founder of New Zealand's welfare state, Michael Joseph Savage. Views of the islands east of Auckland, as well as the Auckland CBD skyline make it worth the short... More

Great views of the city. Very well tended gardens with memorials to those who have gone before us. A sad place yet inspiring.

It is a memorial garden for MJ Savage. Located on the high ground so the unobstructed views to the surrounding are awesome, to Rangitoto Island, Waitemata Harbour, Auckland CBD and City, and Devonport. A nice and beautiful maintained garden, for short nice walks and it is free. Not too far from the famous Mission Bay, the renowned place for its... More

How disappointing. What a waste of land. It's all just plain grass, a boring concrete courtyard, boring sculpture and a few boring flowers. If all of that was smashed down, it could be so much lovelier. The place desperately needs a facelift and maybe even a raised wooden platform with a boardwalk to see the view, which you can't see...
