This is a must-see location for photos across Auckland. There is free entry to drive to the top and adequate parking. The Memorial Park is part of the larger Bastion Point reserve and contains interesting history of Maori settlement and injustice. The memorial is well laid out and a tribute, the site is well maintained, and walking to the point... More

A short drive from the city is Michael Joseph Savage Memorial Park. It is honor of the most loved Prime Minister of New Zealand and has spectacular views of the Harbor, Pacific Ocean and Tasman Sea. The gardens are gorgeous and be sure to take a picture of the memorial in the reflection pool.

This was a "whistle stop tour" as part of a Celebrity Solstice cruise ship shore excursion. There was a very nice view over the harbour and towards the city and the gardens are beautifully maintained and set out. From our observation, on the day we were there, it seems like it is a popular tourist destination. We only had time... More

Savage Memorial Park is a green oasis on Bastion Point overlooking Waitemata Harbor. It is dedicated to Michael Joseph Savage, "New Zealand's most beloved Prime Minister", and he is interred there. The memorial itself consists of a very tall stone spire on a stone plaza. On the entrance side, one descends stairs into a huge, sunken area populated with flower... More

great spot for picnic lunch /kite flying and take binoculars to watch the Auck Anniversary races just below. Lots of walking tracks to Orakei Marae and down to Kohi beach. Toilets and lots of parking plus an arbor area to sit and Mickey Savages memorial.

I visited this park & the gardens were beautiful, views even better, we hired a rental car & we left our locked car for 20 mins, on our return the back window passenger side was smashed, our handbags (hidden under front seats)both stolen...i was told by the gardener, it happens often...please be very careful...

This is the perfect place to impress that special someone with a surprise adventure and picnic. It's STUNNING! Easy to get to, especially from Mission Bay, an incredible view, perfect in the sunshine and the flowers are just beautiful.
