Wonderful guides to take you places you might not find and tell you about the bird life. A magical place to which we must return in the winter.

Beautiful sound of native birds, beautiful regenerating forest - and I was part of the planting about 20 years ago.

The tour-guide was friendly and knowledgable, the pace of the tour fits any age/fitness and the island is one of the most peaceful places I have ever been.

The only thing wrong was our camera playing up. Everything else was great. Well worth the money. Have to agree with somebody's earlier review saying this is a must. Anyone with an interest in wildlife, particularly birds, and in natural history and present day bird life in Aotearoa would have to be in awe of the experience, and the encyclopedic... More

Tiritiri Matangi is a must for bird lovers or those who are visiting Auckland and would like to explore the natural treasures of Hauraki Gulf. We took the 360 discovery package include a 90 min guided tour of the island. Everything is well laid out and the natural presentation is absolutely wonderful. The island is pristine and the birds are so fun to watch. We sat across many of the feeding areas and could have spent more time if we could. Our guide, John, was... More

With many of NZs native birds very rare if not completely exctinct on the mainland this island sanctuary is a must visit to anyone visiting Auckland and looking for a day trip. After arriving at the Island we paid an extra $5 for a guided tour which was well worth the money. Our guide had an encyclopedic knowledge of all... More

This was a great way to spend a sunny day. We had a guide who really knew his stuff. We were fortunate to see all the rarities, including a rifleman and the family if takahe that joined us for lunch. Everyone should take the opportunity to visit. You do need to have a reasonable fitness level, and make sure you... More

I appreciated the natural beauty of TiritiriAnd Matangi and their efforts to protect the endangered birds of New Zealand. Their volunteer guide was wonderful and knowledgeable. Definitely worth the visit.
