The title is so as there is much to do here and much to see. A multitude of beaches and a multitude of hiking trails (some along the coast, some with waterfalls). It's also a nice place to take a drive and sight-see as well. Perhaps one should visit the NZ Regional Parks website for more information and perhaps guidance... More

If you like the outdoors, bush tracks, wildlife and secluded west coast beaches then a visit to the Waitakere Ranges is a must. There are many different places to start from and a visit to the visitors centre is well worth while.

The Waitakere Ranges are a pretty big park so there are a huge number of individual walks, tracks, and destinations. There are also a number of Dam's in the Ranges that are a good destination for any day out. There is a short walk to this Dam down a tar sealed road that is fabulous for kids, families or anyone... A beautiful area to explore if you like your scenery very natural and non touristy. Some secluded stunning beaches with good swimming and fabulous forest walks. Go with a ranger to appreciate what you're seeing.

Who could think nature this gorgeous is right next to a city as big as Auckland? With its many trails and sites of interests easily reached by car, this is a must for anyone who wants to go out of town for the day. There are plenty of different trails to enjoy, making for some amazing hikes. On the Arataki... More

I am collecting all the big huge photo frame picture in Auckland so I went there. However I chose one path to try the walk there (can't remember the name but quite short one). It takes 1 hr to walk. quite easy walk but lack of chairs to rest (maybe I am a lazy person...). Overall good place to chill... More

Over many years I've enjoyed hiking through the Waitakeres. I love the diversity which the landscape provides. I am studying Rongoa Maori medicine so I'll be continuing to visit this beautiful area for many years to come.

I did the Edmund Hillary trail, and it was superb. I was very isolated and the nature was amazing, I would suggest the trail to any fellow hiker who is in the area!

Take the Scenic Drive out of Auckland and go and explore the Waitakere Ranges. Stop off at the brilliant Arataki Visitor Centre on your way out for a photo with a pre-set frame and all the information you could possibly need about the work being carried out in the area and the walks available. My advice, go to Karekare and... More

I did a tour to the Waitakere Ranges and to Piha Beach and Lion Rock. It was OK doing this coach tour but pretty average and boring
